Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Of the 56 Wu's that I have had, I still have 2 in PV waiting for the wingmen to return theirs on 25th - there have been several other repairs over the last couple of weeks where WU's have had time outs - just wondering if they are due to over-full caches not being turned around quickly enough on slower machines??

I'm sorry to hear that there is due to be another lull for checking, I was hoping to get a silver by the end of the month but that will have to be put on hold again....maybe silver by Christmas?

Has the rain stopped again? It has been a couple of weeks since the last DDDT2 WU dropped in on one of my clients.....

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

I'm slightly surprised not to have got any repair units over the past few days. Some of my PV work units' wingmen returned their copies very close to the wire.

''Only'' 87 validated yesterday. If one visits the Crunching Chart thread one sees that the last wave was approached much more leisurely than the first, the work fetched in a much more relaxed way... hence, the repairs will have been also picked up in a more spread manner.

...Just had 4 C4CW but they are still on the standard 40% rule of original deadline. May the techs do not want to push these jobs to only the reliable devices. They'll be snatched up anyhow by the exclusive crunchers...
Sekerob, or anybody, how do I determine if any of my machines are in the reliable device category?

The WCG staff will not publish this information to anyone as this information is for their internal use only. You can determine if your machine is reliable to seeing the number of invalids, error, user aborted, too late returns, as they are all "black marks" against your computer. Also how fast your computer returns WU's will determine if your computer is eligible to received "repair" WU's. I believe I may have read somewhere (not completely sure) that the computer must successfully return approximately 45 consecutive WU's and have a very low (<1%?) error rate to be classified as a "highly reliable" computer. If you have quick return times, and you have received "repair WU's," then it is safe to assume your computer is deemed to be "highly reliable."

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Hmmm... My turn-around times are fairly quick -- normally less than a day to 2 days depending on how much work I have in the cache -- and I don't recall seeing invalids. I have seen one or two errors during normal processing, although I did get quite a few error conditions when I had set my network usage to 10 days for getting 2 years for Nutritious for the World. I did get to 2 years but the remaining WUs for Rice were not able to be completed and ended with error. I don't recall having any late returns and I have not received many Bete WUs (none for Windows CEP2).

The main stipulation is that your machine returns work within 48 hours. The other requirement is a low overall error/invalid rate with none in the past X work units.(I don't know the exact numbers).

Edit : And here it is... BOINC: Deadlines for Standard & Rush Tasks and What Clients Get These

It's amazing what's available within the FAQ's wink
