Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

I got 16 this round, and then received the dreaded "This computer has finished a daily quota of 2 tasks" and so went back to my regularly scheduled program, assuming there would be nothing more but the occasional resend by the time I would be able to get more.

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Are these always so few units ? Is there ever anytime when substantial numbers are released ?

Maybe if these are so very rare and so few like Beta's , those who already have 2 + years crunching them could be kind enough to bow out and allow others the chance to get some of these ?
I realize it isn't a competition but if someone already has their Sapphire badge they should know just how hard it was to get it and how long it took.
With only a few thousand units put out each time and such a long time between runs it seems like a miracle to ever reach 2 years crunching time.
Especially if you only get a couple each time... While the big harvesters swoop in and suck up the majority of the WU's...

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

yes there are larger groups that come out... when larger ones come out i go hunting... these 1000-4000 WU releases are almost impossible to get WU;s on unless you spam the server for them and I am not going to do that. so if i get 1 or 2 thats what i get....

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

2 dg05_%%%%_pe0000 tasks are running much longer than usual on that machine.

Normally 16-17 hours, but
dg05_c182_pe is running now 18h27m cpu and 43.3% done and
dg05_c395_pe is running now 17h30m cpu and 42.8% done.

CPU-usage and checkpointing normal.

For type A and B, there always will be so few units. The latest set was type B.

For type C, there are plenty to last at least seven days - usually 10-14 days. When they do come out, your best bet is to make sure you only have DDDT2 checked and a slightly larger cache until the work runs dry. Usually during such rains, I get at least 7 days worth of work to crunch. So keep your eyes at this forum. It won't be for another week or two.

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

From November '10 to April '11 there was plenty of work units. I went from 120 to 370 cpu days during this period using 8 cores without spamming the servers, just used a DDDT2-only profile with a one day cache. Maybe such a Winter Monsoon's coming back some day.
Still got 5 pe's running, run times ~29 cpu hours on mobile i7 (2 days quota). Looks like all of the 11 tasks i crunched will end up valid, 2 of which were repair jobs from immediate errors.
