Experimenting with BOINC does nothing to the speed of the science app. They do the work, not BOINC. At best, BOINC will be improve on scheduling and in the future might be in collaboration with the servers pull work better suited to the hardware/OS combo's (if the user opts to allow that), but that's ages away.
