I need to get that Phenom II 905E warmed back up again
----------------------------------------It was recently ousted for a 1055T 95 Watter (6 cores OC'ed to 3Ghz!) I can't bear to see it sitting there all cold. It has the mobo and the memory chips (the downside of the deal to get the OEM 1050T 95W edition) 10, 500 points worth of research being abandoned every day ![]() ![]() |

Congradulations xroule! Good morning all. Just bought water coolers and new RAM for my biggest cruncher to speed it up. I have never OC'd any of my computers but once I have installed new hardware will try. Wish me luck. David I know the frustration of having a major cruncher laying there fallow. Yikes.

Cold and lonely. That is too much machine to let just sit there. Morning MOT ; Morning non-MOT...you realize "resistance is futile" ![]() |

Just bought water coolers and new RAM for my biggest cruncher to speed it up. I have never OC'd any of my computers but once I have installed new hardware will try. Wish me luck. Make small changes, check stability and temperatures for a few days and then push it a little more. It can be a bit of a balancing act and being overly aggressive can damage the hardware. Read the information available on enthusiast sites. I've never been able to achieve more than a mild overclock on newer hardware, but then I've never gone to fancy CPU cooling. If you have i7's, they tend to OC well. Currently I have one machine mildly OC'd (2.13GHz C2D, stock cooler, OC'd to 2.25 and undervolted runs 53C at 100% on warm to mildly hot days). My other machines don't have the BIOS flexibility necessary to OC. You may also want to get a power monitor such as a Kill-a-watt to keep an eye on the power draw. An unexpected increase could be a sign of something wrong.Oh yes, good luck! - D |
