Re: New work starts for Help Fight Childhood Cancer Project

eviltoad, we need to see how fast these work units run. Personally I believe these targets will last about 9 months. But again, without information, my estimate could be WAY off.

Re: New work starts for Help Fight Childhood Cancer Project

My machines seem to like these WUs, and it's good to hear that the research is going well. Thanks for keeping us informed.

Re: New work starts for Help Fight Childhood Cancer Project

This is really great. My machines haven't started processing these yet but the crunching is split between CMD2 and HFCC now. I have gotten some message alerts:
7/27/2010 8:20:20 PM|World Community Grid|Message from server: Completed result CMD2_0656-2BKS_A.clustersOccur-2V0F_A.clustersOccur_0_1 refused: result already reported as success
7/27/2010 8:20:20 PM|World Community Grid|Message from server: Completed result CMD2_0656-2BKS_A.clustersOccur-2UYZ_A.clustersOccur_1_0 refused: result already reported as success
7/27/2010 8:20:20 PM|World Community Grid|Message from server: Resent lost result CMD2_0660-ALDOA.clustersOccur-3D48_P.clustersOccur_1_0
7/27/2010 8:20:20 PM|World Community Grid|Message from server: Resent lost result HFCC_n1_00005333_n1_0000_0

I am also getting (not consistently and not related to HFCC)
7/28/2010 8:41:02 AM Suspending computation - CPU usage is too high
7/28/2010 8:41:12 AM Resuming computation

I don't expect this to be a problem.

On CPU Usage too high, you've got a client higher than I think version 6.10.33. See FAQ http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...ead,28585_offset,0#269069 , one of those darn FAQ's for more insight :D

Re: New work starts for Help Fight Childhood Cancer Project

My BOINC level is 6.10.56 and I will those FAQs. I had read that 100% CPU usage could result in the Intel processor overheating and it would be better to reduce the usage to a lower value - it was not clear if this is a real problem. I also did not have "Use GPU while computer is in use" selected. I am changing my preferences to be as described in the "BOINC: CPU Throttling using client or website preferences".
Can you make any comments about this.

Re: New work starts for Help Fight Childhood Cancer Project

Well happy to see this project up and running again, especially with 3 new investigations. Setting new personal goals, agian smile

[ot] dkt, most people run the CPU 100% of the time, and GPU elsewhere if they have a good enough one. Most heatsink & fans are designed to keep the CPU cool even at 100% 24/7. You can use software to see the temps and confirm this for your system [/ot]

Re: New work starts for Help Fight Childhood Cancer Project

In real-life terms, what amount of WU's are we talking about with 3 new targets on the agenda?
