Sometimes in the morning I find that Internet Explorer locks up when I try to go to any Web page. Also the WCG BOINC client is no longer getting CPU, i.e. CPU usage is 0%. Then Windows does not shut down when I ask it to, and I have to power cycle. It seems that every time this happens is after a WU upload. Upgrading my WCG BOINC client to version 6.2.28 did not help. My PC is an older eMachines, Pentium 4 3 GHz, Windows XP Home SP3, 2 GB RAM. I have been running WCG BOINC client for some years now on this PC.
Has anyone else seen this? |

also seeing same problem, is not boinc, is svchost.dll which covers a bunch of services, have not yet tracked down offending service but suspect windows live, or windows live search, if you go to task manager and sort on cpu, then end task you will get back to normal, let me know if you find anymore info or a fix.
a google on svchost.dll shows this to be much discussed ;) |
