I have DOTSCH/Linux with BOINC running on a quad core and it's running fine. I just did an install on an AMD 1055 hex core. It's running but in the message tab it says I have reached my 6 WU daily limit and it will not download any more. I set all the preferences exactly the same as the quad. What am I missing?

I checked there. If there is something there regarding this issue other than setting the correct time I missed it. The date and time are set correctly.

Did the exact 6 daily limit include the word "quota"? If so, that's the FAQ to visit. Not sure how you got a limit of 6 on a hex core as I thought the initial new device quota was 5 per core... but if those 6 all turned Error [The Result Status page carries lots of information when you hit the result status links], then the server wont know which core they came from so your new device used up the initial quota, I guess.

I noticed in my device stats that BOINC assigned the same device name to the hex core as the quad core. Could that be the issue and if it is how do I correct it?

The name of the device is irrelevant to the error(s) but it sounds like you gave the hex the same name as the quad... filter on device name and sort on return time. In Linux there is an "etc/hostname" file where you can rename the host/device. Upon next contact the client will communicate that rename to the WCG servers. Don't know if booting is required, but it sure will make it easier to identify the old quad stats versus the new hex stats.

I didn't assign any names during the boinc install. I don't even remember it asking me to assign a name. I know it asks when installing on a HDD but not sure when installing on usb.

OK, well now you know where that name is stored. Edit with:
----------------------------------------sudo gedit hostname in a terminal window. You may be asked for a password.

Perhaps the server was busy and you had to backoff.

5 IS the initial per core distribution. After, until a valid result is returned nothing more is given!!!!! 8 posts further, we have no feedback on the Results Status... that's up to nanoprobe to provide.
