Hi,
When BOINC download binray file from WCG (not the other project and other fle from WCG), it download more than 100% and I have an HTTP error 27/06/2010 09:53:03 World Community Grid Temporarily failed download of wcg_hcc1_img_6.08_windows_intelx86: HTTP error 27/06/2010 09:53:03 World Community Grid Backing off 31 min 45 sec on download of wcg_hcc1_img_6.08_windows_intelx86 27/06/2010 09:53:11 Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. I detach and re-attach me from the projet but nothing... What can I do ? Sorry for my bad english...  |

Detaching/Reattaching is pointless here as it is the hi loads on the network that cause this to happen at times... just let it work itself out rather than hitting retry and update frequently and increase cache/additional buffer a little bit so there always work whilst the client works it out.
----------------------------------------The percent is cumulative at times, so yes on retries it's not unknown to see more than 100% being received. There are checksums at the end that make sure that the agent ends up with the correct file.

This problem is here since 1 month, and when download is more than 100% and the error come, the download come back to variable pourcent...
The other files from WCG downloaded normally (all projects include) but error with binary files. All of the other project (Seti@home, Docking@home, Collatz Conjecture, ...) is fully fonctionned. Problem only with WCG. I've downloaded boinc agent on boinc.berkeley.edu: the problem is here ? |

The log contradicts your previous post: We see not only WCG fail to resolve the host name and this:

Is there a proxy of some kind in your connection? Of course for WCG the port 443 needs to be open, outbound to set off a secure connection. Ping www.worldcommunitygrid.org and grid.worldcommunitygrid.org and secure.worldcommunitygrid.org in a cmd window. They should resolve into IP 198.28.8.241 and 198.28.8.246 at the very minimum though they will time-out, for reason. Unrelated: For this computer I'd suggest you attach it to a separate profile/location and then de-select the GPU sciences for projects that have them such as Einstein.

WCG is not the sole to fail but it is the sole who don't dwnload correctly the binary files. WCG download more than 100% and when a unexplicable error appeart suddenly, the download come back to 22% or 35% or 44% or other variable %.
The other project fail because i'm on the internet, and such as i've a RTC connection, the projet have no enough bandwidth and the delay is passt. And i don't use a proxy. I've restarted my computer, disconnect and reconnect from the internet without sucess. I've tried to ping your different IP and always: the delay is passt. |

If the mere internet browsing causes the client downloads to fail, then you might want to consider to set the networking to nighttime and the cache to for instance 1.00 days and the scheduled connect too from for instance 23:00-06:00 and network activity based on preferences. That possibly alleviates.
----------------------------------------The binary file such as what we see in the log: Temporarily failed download of wcg_hcc1_img_6.08_windows_intelx86: HTTP error is the science application. These are one-off downloads long as the version does not change. The techs have to inject their knowledge here as to why it might fail.
