Actually, no, the LO version per Synaptic properties version info tab before and after came from Oneiric-Update and were version 1.3.4.4 ... not even a suffix change. Moreover, the update check runs in 24 hour cycle and showed a few bits last night which were left unapplied.
So, here I was reading about Deja Dup for simple backup and checked the software center. Already installed. Typed it into Dash... nada. Read a bit more and the name Duplicity comes up... also installed. Typed into Dash... nada. Then why not just type what it does... backup... Bingo! It continues to baffle me how hard things are sometimes made. Many other apps will produce the aliases in Dash. Type 'tweak', and 'advanced settings' shows up, but when you want to add an app to auto-start you have to again get the exact native name. Already looking forward to 12.04 LTS. So many promises of improvement and stability. We'll see next April. --//-- |

No more Boinc lock-ups so far, but another 110 or so updates...
The problems might have been chipset related, again; i7-2600 systems, including one with PCIE3. When 12 comes out, I think I will steer clear for a month or two. |

I effected the update of kernel v3.0.0-12 to v3.0.0-13 via an Ubuntu update recently. So far, nothing unusual going on with Ubuntu_v11.10 and BOINC_v6.12.33.

Been thinking of upgrading to 11.10. Just moved to 11.2 recently just so my USB wireless device would work without issues. Not. Still can't get it to work. Guess I'll give it a try to see if the drivers got updated.

Some might like it, who've stuck to using Nautilus as their main file browser:

Yesterday finally found why the dbus-daemon was being constantly driven, eating CPU time. For whatever reason Zeitgeist [the Ubuntu activity journaling system] was still stuck on the buggy version 0.8.0. The official repository version of 0.8.2 is now on and low/behold, getting crunching efficiencies again [as in my early Linux days] of +99.8% on the not exactly light B-Type DDDT2 jobs. When GNOME 3 is loaded, still good 98% watching TOP in terminal [The Gnome System Monitor itself is a huge CPU cycle eater]
Looking forward to find out what effect this has on the CEP2 jobs. W7-64 is just way ahead on these when booted into that OS. --//-- |

Anyone with Linux Mint 12 MGSE out there [kernel 3.0.0-12 I presume]? The interface gets rave reviews, the best of Gnome 2+3 combined and the stats claim it to now being more popular than Ubuntu [thanks to Unity's dislike]. How well are they in up in maintenance? Solidly dug in with the xxBuntu family, might want to try some new candy.
