Re: This really should be easy

Could be it's Chrome. sikrabbe gives no browser info, scribe no version. Something the webmaster has to confirm. WCG does test the site with this browser, but whether every single page?

calling nelsoc.

Re: This really should be easy

Today Firefox mentioned that a part of Java needed to be uninstalled because of instability on most of my boxes.

Am I helping? Or just increasing the confusion?

Yes, saw some note pop up that a java add-in was pre-emptively disabled and read up first to make sure it was not some trick... like that AV scam software that tells you your computer is loaded with malware, so you kneejerk into buying the malware itself ;>)

To follow this branch through through on Java Console add-on that got disabled, here a quote from the Mozilla [firefox] official add-ons site:
NOTE: This add-on and its associated JRE is no longer supported by Sun. Do not install this add-on.

The Java Console enables you to monitor status and debug running applets and Java Webstart application that use Sun Java technology.

This add-on requires JRE 1.6.0_02 installation to work. Visit http://java.com to download JRE 1.6.0_02.

Mine sat there as version 6.0.18 disabled, now uninstalled.

We will try to get this fixed as soon as possible. In the mean time, hopefully people can use another browser to access the Help pages.

Re: This really should be easy

Cheers folks. I got the BOINC client up and running - I just got frustrated that this was so easy years ago, but now in a supposedly advanced world, I got all sorts of error messages, and I didn't have the patience to sort it out. Works now after several re-installs, though.

As for the links: They do not work in Safari 4 browser, but do in Firefox 3.6.
I'm on an OSX machine.

This makes sense since Safari and Chrome use the same rendering engine while Firefox and IE use different ones.

We have identified and fixed the issue in dev and it should be fixed the next time we update the web site.

cool Re: This really should be easy

I think you really need to do something about the user-friendlyness of the software.
If you're no computer geek, but just want to add some cpu power, . . .

Even on your help page it's not possible to click on the links, whut!

For a computing company that's really not good enough!

Scribe need not reply...

I need more desciptaves than 'DEVICE=1'',,, like laptop #3 or basement - Heat changer , or Kids toy as user X Y Z... sorry but I never understood other than installing software and running vs linking stuff for BIG Egos.. crying
