I think you really need to do something about the user-friendlyness of the software.
If you're no computer geek, but just want to add some cpu power, then it is too much hassle to get the app installed and assigned to participating. Is there some kind of "light" version that want have me look up error codes and configure permissions and whut nut? Even on your help page it's not possible to click on the links, whut! For a computing company that's really not good enough! |

For a computing company that's really not good enough! The BOINC client is actually a project of Berkeley university.

The WCG installer in principle starts off in Simple View with limited preferences and few controls. Only those interested in detail or face an issue need switching to the Advanced/Grid View, mostly though not as the messaging window can also be opened from Simple View
----------------------------------------But yes, the development is continuous to make the client resilient, robust, self correcting and be able to handle 100+ projects simultaneous, not just WCG, in hopes that one day we will truly get that client that opens the perfect Set and Forget / Computing for the Masses floodgate... an idealized world I fear. Even on your help page it's not possible to click on the links, whut! If there are links, they should work. If not, please report in the Website Support forum and we'll investigate. My signature has a link to an extensive FAQ topic list... they are x-topic linked all over the place.

Sample please... the links at top of page merely jump you on smaller displays to the section on that page. Most links don't go to a different page.
----------------------------------------edit: here's a good example of a long page on firewall and 3 links at top. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=firewall The page shifts to the bottom section when hitting 3rd link.

Go to top of THIS page and select Help button on the right -
that gives a page with 3 columns of links, none of which work - http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewHelp.do |

Yes I tested that page before... it works for me. Maybe your Javascript is blocked or some other browser element, but even if I block that, the links work here. FFX 3.5.3
----------------------------------------Oh, but with javascript blocked on wcg, quickly done with NoScript, posting does not work, so think it's something related.

that gives a page with 3 columns of links, none of which work - It looks like you have a problem with your browser. I have gone to that page both ways (with your link or via the Help button) and it was always looking normal and links were functional. I even tried a Ctrl-F5 refresh to make sure I was not using an old version anterior to a recent failure and same: still working. Firefox 3.5.9 under Ubuntu 9.10. And top of it, Adblock Plus active. PS: And I don't see any use of javascript in all these links. |

If old hands don't provide detail on the setup, no I'm not going to look it up and speculate it has not changed for the member since last time, we can do little in trying to reproduce. Just tested IE8 on W7-64 with the IEPro add-in... all works fine.
