Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

Slowly, I become hopeless regarding this project.

Perhaps the best cure for such feelings is take into account the following, and adjust your hopes/plans accordingly.

1) DDDT2 is (now) rated as "intermittent",

2) According to Uplingers post above (May 3) "The process of testing A,B, and C work units will take up to 2 weeks by our estimates. We will not be sending new work for DDDT2 until these are done."

So everyone, don't bother expecting WUs for a while yet, you will only be disappointed!

I think there is reason to be encouraged that the necessary time is being taken to iron out teething problems, because that makes it more likely that when this project will run more smoothly when it starts up again. smile

Wow, I have not been around for a bit and am surprised to find DDDT2 wu's are still elusive.
Reading some of the posts are amusing. Would some of you rather have WCG do what grid.org did and just push out some work even if it is meaningless? wink Evereyone could get their badges though. biggrin
If the science is not ready yet then the science is not ready yet.
Meanwhile, I will keep trolling some cores in hopes of snaging a wu of this elusive species. laughing biggrin

Good call, Dataman.
I strongly second that. What are we paying the higher electricity bills caused by crunching for? I personally do it for science, not for meaningless credits.
I can imagine the postings if the application was buggy or if it turned out that years of crunching were spent meaninglessly.

Dear Techs, dear scientists, just continue solid and serious work. We will be ready to calculate the units as soon as they are ready to be distributed. In the meantime I will be crunching to fight those HI viruses in order to read more good news from the Scripps Institute soon.

Wonder if any new projects or second set of WU's for previous projects are in the works. Personally I could careless why people crunch as long as they do. Any word on Africian climate or renewable energy? Not really the spot to ask but really could not find another area that was getting any attention.

There are new launches on their way not too far from now.
And of course, as usual, that's the most I am allowed to say (I hope). smile

please don't i would prefer to advance science rather than do meaningless work... if i wanted meaningless work i am sure i could find another project to crunch that gives me tons of points for meaningless work... personally i don't think i need to know what a 13K digit prime number is so im not working on those.

i am satisfied waiting for my badge until the work can do meaningful work.

that is one thing i like about WCG they don't do work that is meaningless and if there is a time that your particular project of choice isn't available cause of that at least your doing some other meaningful project.

yes i hope for some new projects to show up soon and i hope we get rain here soon as well... but i will wait, knowing that when the work units come they will be meaningful and towards the project goals

I agree with Nasher 100%. There are enough other active projects to keep your machines busy. I have restricted my participation to WCG at this time, but I may want to consider adding another project such as Malariacontrol or Milkyway or others.

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

Wow there is alot of views here about crunching reading this thread.. All projects on WCG are equally important..

Saddly I lack in resources to do as much as I would like to. honestly I have not got one WU yet for this project as there are pleanty of work to do for other projects.. Badges and points make it alittle fun too. trying to get Saph on all current active ones before I switch to a new project.. then after all current is 2 years I just switch my systems to do dynamic between all current projects.. no biggie.. with all these faster cheaper systems out there.. really hard to tell how fast or slow projects complete these days.. :) Where are those AMD 12 cores.. and the Intel 8 cores I been reading so much about? we need them to crunch more.... :)

Actually both expressions are valid, depending on what you want to say.

If you care too much, then you could care less, but if you do not care about it at all, then you couldn't care less. They are often used incorrectly since they are not interchangeable[/o/t]
