Well, the new year has started and I'm scratching my head about what are my crunching plans for this year. So far, this is what I have come up with:
----------------------------------------I currently have GFAM, SN2S & DSFL at silver. Both SN2S & DSFL have 819 days left. GFAM only has aprox 272 days left (according to Sekerob's dashboard) which is a tad over 9 months. In the short run, I'm planing on taking DSFL to gold (since it's the closest to that shinny badge) and GFAM to ruby (since it currently has the shortest runway). I imagine that I'll also, someplace in between, take SN2S to gold also. That was the easy part. I also want to take HFCC to emerald (since it got an extension), but haven't figured how to incorporate it yet (scheme, scheme, scheme...). Also there is to take into account DDDT2's last run (I thought it would be announced during December)... which will also interrupt whatever I'm running at the moment. I guess I'll have make up this story as this year progresses Dang, this is fun !!![Update Jan 3]: Now I have to also figure in C4CW which has started up again (I didn't see this one coming)... now even more fun !!! cjslman, yep, it's certainly fun here trying to reach as many goals as possible.
----------------------------------------What I'm sure though, is that there'll be far more projects launched during 2013 than in 2012 - as, by all acounts, getting the GPU option to work took up a huge amount of the techs time - resulting in new projects being pushed back. For everyone's ease of reconning, here follows the number of projects launched/year; 2004 = 1 2005 = 1 2006 = 4 2007 = 3 2008 = 2 2009 = 3 2010 = 3 2011 = 2 2012 = 2 Thus, it's my guess (and this is a pure guess - I have no insider info), is that there'll be at least 3 new projects launched this year. ![]() |

Since 4 projects will (probably) end in 2013 (C4CW, DDDT2, HFCC and GFAM), if your guesstimate is correct, than we will have one project less than in 2012 (started 2, finished 2)

Thus, it's my guess (and this is a pure guess - I have no insider info), is that there'll be at least 3 new projects launched this year. I hope you're right! I'm ready for some new projects to get my teeth into. I'm really hoping for some more "big attractor" projects (cancer, maybe MS or motor neurones or something) - the sort of things that can get coverage on national news and really draw in some new crunchers in big numbers. But whatever and whenever the new projects may be, I can't wait to get started. ![]() (previously known as 'proxima' on SETI, UD, distributed folding, FaD, and Rosetta) |

GFAM - SN2S - Beta - (DDDT2) - (C4CW)
----------------------------------------. . . and DSFL in addition as soon as GFAM and SN2S have reached 8 years of CPU-time. GPUs are attached to another BOINC project. edit: typo ![]() Ask not what the world can do for you - ask what you can do for the world. Now I'm exclusively going after C4CW... I'll try to make it to emerald but for the moment I don't know if I'll make it (currently at 186 days crunched). I will have to wait to see Sekerob's dashboard to be updated to know if I'm going to make it or not (I will need aprox 60 days).
