Re: Building the 400 Teraflop Machine... a Work In [Permanent] Progress

Such exciting progress, and it's so much fun to be a even a tiny part of it.

Take your daily points, some week average and divide by 700,000. Assuming 10,000 points this equals 0,0142857142857143 TFL.

Maybe BOINCstats shows it on your personal page... well it shows I'm contributing 0.00617% of that. I've set no goals to increase that... it's sliding since all these I7's keep joining.

Think it will be "save" when we hit the 425 TFL 21 mean... let's not rush the expectations... you know MrKermit is presently on board and takes care of a few percentage points (looks like near 10 TFL) and not yet observing that mass take-up of Clean Water... but we'll get there I think before X-mas.

:D

Re: Building the 400 Teraflop Machine... a Work In [Permanent] Progress

Sadly Network issues seem to be knocking my systems down to very low utilization... My uploads are largely failing causing huge delays ( Backing off 3 hr 53 min 23 sec on upload of ... )

Nearly all my machines are idle waiting to upload.

Re: Building the 400 Teraflop Machine... a Work In [Permanent] Progress

MrKermit, are these uploads of Beta WU's (i.e., CEP2 which go to the Harvard servers) or uploads to the WCG servers (i.e., all the remaining projects)?

If it's the former, then this may be something which needs resolving before CEP2 (Windows) can be rolled out to production... If it's the latter, then hopefully the WCG techs can resolve any issues you may be experiencing...

Re: Building the 400 Teraflop Machine... a Work In [Permanent] Progress

Not sure if these Beta's go to Harvard as my regular CEP2 job uploads showed no problems at all in the message log, but I've dropped a note in the backroom to ask if the rules can be adapted for not being able to download because there being a ratio checking of number of uploads and cores which can result in idling, a very much undesirable state.

Whilst, the Thursday afternoon results showed that something was not transmitting, the Friday morning stats displayed a full recoup and if more comes knocking in this afternoon we might be setting a new CPU years week record, above 2212 years. The a sliding TFL sits for the 21 day measure at 415 and the 7 days average at 422. We briefly hit 427 on Tuesday and soundbarriered the Monday day record rocketing to 454 TFL which is awesome... no any strange day on day slippages distorting the numbers.

Grand Applause heard around the WCG globe.

Crunching On.

Re: Building the 400 Teraflop Machine... a Work In [Permanent] Progress

Hmmm, at some point it seems my nodes started saturating the network bandwidth available from my site. Are there projects that are known to have High (or Low) bandwidth requirements?

Definitely seems to be all projects, not just CEP2. My system is about 50% idle now but slowly bringing back to full performance. Hopefully a few extra boinccmd --network_available cmds will help get back my fraction of the push!
