Unable to remain attached without a project selected.

I removed the last project I had enabled on a machine class, and tried to save it with no projects, just the "Opt me into new projects" set. This fails, "You must have a project selected".

That's correct, you have to have an existing project selected. Try one of the 3 intermittent that are not likely to have work unless there's an update required to add base for the upcoming phase 2s

Of, course you could also simply hit the Fetch no Work button for WCG in the client, but I surmise you want new project work when they launch.

Re: Unable to remain attached without a project selected.

If I set "No new work", I need to visit the machines to set it, and then again to remove it. It would also preclude my receiving Beta work units, which I do have enabled.

Re: Unable to remain attached without a project selected.

There was intentional omission in what I wrote as I think you brought up the beta angle before :D. Beta is not a project and to me the reward/incentive to active crunchers (totally private opinion)... there's already huge competition to grab the little there are once in a blue moon (which there is one end of this month, the blue moon of course) ;>)

Re: Unable to remain attached without a project selected.

I agree the Beta units are rare, indeed, despite having the option enabled, I have never received one. What I was trying to do was set it such that when new projects came they would start without me needing to do anything. In that respect, I am attatched to a project(s), but it is a fine line.

If I enable an intermittant, I risk depriving others that really need them from obtaining them.

It would seem it is best that I simply detatch from WCG and let my other projects take up the resulting capacity. Presumably I will get an e-mail when the new part 2 projects come along.

As alternate alert, you could subscribe to the BETA announcement forum RSS feed. If you put that forum onto your watch list in the forum profile it will give you pre-warning that a new project is coming.

Don't know how you manage your devices... AMS maybe. Through there I think you also can set Work Fetching to local and Remote devices.
