I cam't compete with the big guys as i only have a dual core laptop but i'll plod on helping in my own very small way. Barney, don't go quiet on us. It's good having you back here! Less than five days of crunching to that first full year now! Thank you!! I cam't compete with the big guys as i only have a dual core laptop but i'll plod on helping in my own very small way. Onwards and upwards It's not about competing with the "big guys". You're doing what you can and THAT's the important part! We celebrate everyone. one thing I haven't seen anyone ask lately.. any new projects in the works? Dr. Mike.. I'll wager we'll see some phase 2 projects but probably not until after first of the year. You normally don't hear much about anything new before it's announced. I'd expect at least 2-3 new projects next year. I'm under five months of crunching time each to make sapphire on Rice and Emerald on HFCC and HCMD. Another year's crunching time on the last two would max me out on possible badge colors. Part of me wouldn't mind maxing if some new were to hit about the same time. Still, new projects are a nice change too.I have to agree that getting a new project would be nice. I will get my last two sapphires this week and then i'm done (with badges, not crunching) until the next project is released. Then, of course, I will see how fast I can hit sapphire on that project. i know that badge colors shouldn't make a difference, but there is that small competitiveness streak in me (which I am sure none of you have) that makes me want to have the top mark on everything. I have asked God to help me with my ego issues, but he seems to have more important things to do. yesterday i went over 20,000,000 points on wcg (i was on some other teams for 1.5 million points) and it got me to thinking about the last five years. back in the day I made it to #53 on the wcg for points earned, (and the top sixty in computer time and results) now I am #683 and I'm thrilled that over 600 people have put forth so much effort. when i think of all the potential good that has come from the work of all these people, i'm amazed.
----------------------------------------thank you for donating so much time and energy (not to mention the money it takes to cool down the rooms your crunchers are in). our little team in just a month away from a big milestone. we usually check our points, we sometimes check our results, but by this time next month we will cross the 1,000 years of computer time devoted to this project. our little team in just a month away from a big milestone. we usually check our points, we sometimes check our results, but by this time next month we will cross the 1,000 years of computer time devoted to this project. That ain't too shabby! what a way to start the new year. Well, we're a tad under 12 years of run time to go. More like about 4276 days actually. Since we seem to be doing about 130-140 days of run time each day, that works out to 33 to 31 days. Somewhere around the 15th to 17th of January (some folks like it precise ) we should hit it. Nice after coming off what should be a 125+ million point year. Let's see, 50+ million in 2007, 80+ million in 2008, 125+ million in 2009.....looks like 2010 should be a 150+ million year! Yep, we're that good! |
