Daylight Saving Time
----------------------------------------Just as sunflowers turn their heads to catch every sunbeam, so too have we discovered a simple way to get more from our sun. Daylight Saving Time gives us the opportunity to enjoy sunny summer evenings by moving our clocks an hour forward in the spring Daylight Saving Time gives us the opportunity to enjoy sunny summer evenings by moving our clocks an hour forward in the spring. Yet, the implementation of Daylight Saving Time has been fraught with controversy since Benjamin Franklin conceived of the idea. Even today, regions and countries routinely change their approaches to Daylight Saving Time. Most of the United States begins Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and reverts to standard time on the first Sunday in November. In the U.S., each time zone switches at a different time. In the European Union, Summer Time begins and ends at 1:00 a.m. Universal Time (Greenwich Mean Time). It begins the last Sunday in March and ends the last Sunday in October. In the EU, all time zones change at the same moment. See more information about elsewhere in the world. Got a minute? We are testing a new way to show you all this information in little floating "clouds". When Clocks Change, Body May Need Time to Adjust
That extra hour of sleep you'll get in most parts of the country on Sunday might be restful, but the end of Daylight Saving Time could spell trouble for your body clock, a sleep expert says.... |

Can't we just stay on one time setting? The adjustment of sleep for the family is bad enough... Learning to re-program all the clocks all around the house (and cars, and watch, etc...) is usually the straw that breaks the camels back.
And now with the sun setting an hour earlier, it's dark when I leave for work, and the sun is setting when I leave work for home. Could it be more depressing? |

My suggestion would be to have the whole world use the same timezone - that being UTC. That way, we wouldn't be wasting time sending and waiting for replies to e-mails etc., from different timezones. Also, it'd cut down on people having to work shifts in order to cover those timezones outside of UTC. Just think of all the benefits ![]() ![]() |

The USSR made a start by using Moscow time all over the country. It would therefore be easier if we all adopted Moscow time rather than GMT.
