Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

esoteric17,

On your reposting of the SST charts for NOAA and HADCRU, providence/provenance had it that HADCRU finished their auditing and review of data and methodologies [necessary to make sure no one who illegally got into their computer systems and not altered information. The good thing is that but for slight re-computations due late data, sometimes trickling in years later, nothing of even the minutest of changes are seen and with the Oct-09 to Jan-10, has now pulled up to have the comparable period of data as NOAA. Here the updated charts with some refreshed labels... moderate El Nino still, all that vapor turning snow, and a record January... things are not looking good for homo retardus, the next generation of homo sapiens sapiens, under threat of book burning to reoccur in the present decade, for there is so much inconvenient truth going around.

Point of most reflection, per HADSST the Northern and Southern Oceans are in temperature equilibrium... 0.437 C anomaly, up 0.07C from last year and a 0.16C increase per decade, not much behind the IPCC global long term prediction of 0.2C/Decade... goes in leaps and bounds, but it's happening, no doubt. And for those wondering, NOAA weight global temperatures for land and sea separately and proportionally... most ocean with most heat storage is down south... the thermohaline circulation pumping it north, to where 90% of the humans live. The simple view of that global conveyor belt.

I can't believe anyone still has the nards to post temperature charts! LOL

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

I wanted to reply to something, but you guys go so fast, I can't keep up. I can't spend all day at my computer doing this, and I can't post from work.

Anyway--

Here's something different:

Climate scientists withdraw journal claims of rising sea levels

Study claimed in 2009 that sea levels would rise by up to 82cm by the end of century – but the report's author now says true estimate is still unknown

In a statement the authors of the paper said: "Since publication of our paper we have become aware of two mistakes which impact the detailed estimation of future sea level rise. This means that we can no longer draw firm conclusions regarding 21st century sea level rise from this study without further work.

"One mistake was a miscalculation; the other was not to allow fully for temperature change over the past 2,000 years. Because of these issues we have retracted the paper and will now invest in the further work needed to correct these mistakes."

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

What a hypocrit--

"Happiness in life is based on expectations," writes (IPCC Chairman) Rajendra K Pachauri on his own blog. And if your expectations include ownership of a nine-hole golf course, then Dr Pachauri must be a very happy man indeed.

The ownership is reported today by the Indian newspaper the Mail Today which tells us that R K Pachauri's "not-for-profit" TERI - imbued with a mission to "work towards global sustainable development, creating innovative solutions for a better tomorrow" - is the proud owner of a water-guzzling nine hole golf course in Gual Pahari on the outskirts of Gurgaon a satellite town to the southwest of New Delhi.

How green is my golf course?

Actual news article is here , but the way the web site is set up and formatted makes it hard to read.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Annual Rain New Delhi India, 710mm, golf courses 6.
Annual Rain Amsterdam, Netherlands - 765 mm 7.
Annual Rain Rome, Italy - 840 mm, golf courses 7.
Annual Rain London, UK - 585 mm, golf courses 7.
Annual Rain Las Vegas - 4 inches, golf courses 7.

Yes if we're lost for factual relevant argument, lets try to defame the persons, best the chairman, which then is evidence that the whole body is bad too. Pachauri recently published a roman too, nothing related to climate science, but it does reflect on the person, does it not? Let's have the (science) book burning begin. We've seen that several times here in Europe, lastly in the previous century. Knowledge is dangerous and spoils the mind and that we're changing the planet adversely, detrimentally and lasting is the most disturbing of knowledges.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

The good (older) and the bad news, coccolithophores converting dissolved CO2 in ocean water to calcium carbonate much quicker and in increasing rate since the past 220 years, up to 40% faster, the oceans though still acidifying and air CO2 content gone in that same period from 280 ppmv to 388ppmv.

http://www.physorg.com/news128613620.html

The bad news is, we've started to harvest the algae for bio-diesel, good old Exxon-Mobil investing heavily into the technology.

The human opportunist, behaving in BAU as if we've got a thousand years to thwart off the eco collapse... the let's take what comes to us for free and do the Mortimer: Sell Sell Sell Sell .

Nice one Littlepeaks you beat me to it

I had this ready to go on control v

http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2010/fe...eoscience-retract-siddall

It falling down around their ears like nine pins

(Why 9 and not 10 pins I'm not too sure)

Looking forward to the day the Nobel Peace Prize for 2007 is reassigned to someone who has spent their lifetime striving towards, making and supporting peace.

Looking forward to hearing truth for a change.

I'm more hopeful by the day peace

Take care

Dave

No more offers in the Hadley CRU January Anomaly Sweepstake?

No news yet at http://junkscience.com/MSU_Temps/Warming_Look.html

I'm sticking with 0.58C

All it takes is an appreciation of the characters involved wink

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Seemingly some can't stand the sight of these, so for an encore a short recap of the different land and sat temp records, to say that I like the full quoting of my charts to add to voluntary repetition and exposure, of the inconvenient truth.

Satellite record for past 31 years by Drs Spencer and Christy

The same, combined by with the now up to date Dr. Hansen's RSS & GISTEMP and NOAA/NSDC temps, the HADCRU crew still working hard to get there's topped up from last September 2009 published record. Note carefully the different anomaly baselines, inviting any competent ain't true-ist to recomp the baseline for all into an integrated... the minds eye very well able to see the changes extremely well overlay:

And finally a zoom-in to better visualize what the last 61 months have done since the supposed commencement of global cooling... and records just now being contested to be increased... in nearly total BAU.

Thus repeat after me:

We're doing it! , We're Doing It!, We're Doing It! ', We're doing It!

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Did I see on the quick someone bringing up the large snow extend of Feb.1978? Did the person feel deliberately ignored? What then happened in the 3 years after that... global winter warming?

Let's wait a few weeks to get the meteorological winter quarter out of the way, Dec-Feb, and then see how it holds up in Spring [Mar-May]. Bet 5 quatloos that it will not be anything much above the trend, the green line, and 10 quatloos that the red line is not going to budge from that slippery slope, Amy runs so superbly downhill. Which Amy? That Amy, not the one that sings going Back To Black .

PS: Attention. The Winter quarter has NO trend, never had, but a forecast for years that warming will generate more snow in the northern quarters... it's that vapor coming off those oceans!
