Gerald there's a firecracker of a Sunspot just coming into view

http://sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov/data/SDO_Self_Updating_6.htm

As far as we are concerned the Sun appears to rotate (like the Earth) in about 27.2753 days wink

It's arcing and sparking

Good day for a tan once it's pointing our way cool

Stunned to see this

http://wattsupwiththat.com/2012/08/19/july-wa...ature-record-by-noaancdc/

Isn't that pretty much all of the warming seen in the 20th Century?

Science - taking the measurement of something and trying to understand what that is trying to tell us

Surely not Science - modifying your results until it tells the story you want it to tell

?

I'm running a science project and currently it is showing warming. Have I changed it to show the amazing stability I am expecting - NO!

I know it will start cooling again and not continue its current relentless rise. It's good that is has gone up as that will make its decline all the more visible

I won't need to tweak anything - just take the raw data and display it for all to see.

Why do I think it will show amazing stability? Look around you. How long has life existed on Earth? What kind of life support system do you think we are living on? I would posit - a truly great one

Night folks

Dave

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

I wonder how long they will keep talking about this great untapped resource of non-nuclear and totally clean source of power

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/c181a5c6-ea23-11e1-929b-00144feab49a.html

until they scrap the idea yet again http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Severn_Barrage ?

leaving us with even less wriggle room in the UK's ever dwindling power supply.

They have been talking about producing power here since 1925 according to wikipedia

just talking about it... then not doing it

I wonder if like the Chunnel this time it will get done

I think it would be a great deal---The £30bn scheme, championed by the former Labour minister Peter Hain who quit his shadow cabinet role earlier this year to promote it, promises to generate 5% of the UK's electricity and create 10,000 jobs. It would be expected to be operational for more than 120 years.--Although 5% may not be much but the jobs would be good-- smile

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

5% may not be much LOL

1/20th our power supply is not to be sneezed at.

5% is a whole load more than the 0.039429% that is the CO2 content of the atmosphere which according to some will doom us all d oh

Here's a class piece of prose

http://rabble.ca/blogs/bloggers/david-suzuki/...eniers-are-almost-extinct

(n.b. not denying the climate changes - just the power of that 0.039429% "special" gas in the atmosphere being able to raise the average temperature of the Globe by 2-6C by 2100, as claimed by the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and other fearmongers like Dr Suzuki....and I am concerned about the damaging fallout - some literally - that is a direct consequence of this ongoing lie)

Yes any amount would be beneficial --According to a recent poll, --what pole --someone in Poland?? There’s also a subset of deniers who see some nefarious conspiracy in climate science and “Agenda 21” (a nonbinding, voluntary UN agreement on sustainable development) to impose a world government or something, but their irrational arguments aren’t worth the time of day.--also we are fighting this here in Mathews County--and the Northwest and Alaska are having unusual cold -cold warming

Remember when those Belgian Nuclear Power Stations got a new lease of life and I mentioned MTBF and how it reduced at end of life and expressed my concerns at the time

Well..
