Even the Dutch rejecting wind power
Faced with the need to cut its budget deficit, the Dutch government says offshore wind power is too expensive and that it cannot afford to subsidize the entire cost of 18 cents per kilowatt hour — some 4.5 billion euros last year.

The Aussie Thought Police have teeth !

"No my price increases have nothing to do with the introduction of the Carbon Price at all. Who would think such a thing Officer? Have you noticed how the cost of a loaf of bread keeps on increasing, it's scandalous isn't it? Have a nice day Officer, you take care."

Paul Krugman Flunks Moore's Law There's something about solar energy that turns otherwise intelligent brains to mush. Paul Krugman, the celebrated Nobel Prize-winning economist, has now joined the crowd.
In an op-ed last week entitled "Here Comes the Sun," Krugman invoked Moore's Law, of Silicon Valley fame, to marshal the case that solar energy will soon be taking the place of coal, oil, gas nuclear and all those other nasty things. Here's the way he went about it:

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

I'm liking Solar Power

Absolutely no moving parts harnessing the power directly from the Sun

No pollution (apart from the mining for the metal required to wire it up and collect those electrons) once the process is self sustaining

If it's viable it's viable just like any other power source

If only the playing field was level then the most effective power source for a location would be the outcome

If that were the case I doubt I would have to be concerned about the new nuclear build in the UK as there wouldn't be any

But the whole market is rigged and not in favour of the end customer

I might be in the hugely sceptical camp when it comes to the planet being as much as 6C warmer by the end of this century due to a trace gas but I'm not against green power generation in it's many forms or against just been plain more efficient in our power usage

Dave

p.s. whatever they tell you Nuclear (Fission) Power is not Green. It might not emit CO2 once the ore has been mined and purified and the plant built, but that pales into insignificance with what else they emit during and after power production. Give me 0.038892% atmospheric CO2 any day.
