Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Another weather station goes rogue

http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/current/ETIC.html

53 degrees C in the shade

In Germany.... today.... the 9th November !!

At least it has proven that the validation filter works as it was plucked out into my rogue catcher

Man Made German Warming

Yep wink

Yesterdays winner with a steamy 128 degrees C http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/current/PASX.html in Alaska biggrin

Garbage in Garbage out

Too true but none of these made the grade. Still hoping that I end up on the positive side of 2700 stations for launch. (from 7345) Apart from yesterdays regrade on my ADSL (I tried Annex M but my landline just wasn't up to it) which caused a a bit of a hiccup the Global Thermometer engine is looking pretty resilient (you can see the glitch in yesterdays bump)

I must remember to enable that daily average script d oh

Winter has arrived in the UK

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Well there you go the ultimate accolade NOAA are dishing me up exactly the same data every hour in just 4 mins

They have deployed http://www.akamai.com/html/about/index.html to cache a copy of their data

so as you can see below my "Global thermometer" has flat lined and I now get the same data from midnight last night every hour of the day

So "Big Brother" really doesn't want mere mortals like you and me having access to the truth about our climate

Any US taxpayer like to help me out here?

The NOAA website has this to say about the freedom of information act

NOAA Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
The Freedom of Information Act (5 USC 552), was enacted in 1966. FOIA provides that any person has a right to obtain access to federal agency records , except to the extent that such records (or portions of them) are protected from public disclosure by one of nine FOIA exemptions or by one of three special law enforcement record exclusions. This right is enforceable in court . The Federal FOIA does not provide access to records held by state or local government agencies, or by businesses or individuals. States have their own statutes governing public access to state and local records and they should be consulted for further information about them.

Here's the server policy and use of data policy

About the information on this U.S. Government server

This operational server maintains a current database of meteorological and hydrological data, historical data, and written information generated by the NWS or received from other official sources. In addition, this server accesses in realtime a selection of current official weather observations, forecasts, and warnings from U.S. government sources for use by the national and international community. In an effort to enhance the science, experimental products may be accessible on this server and care must be taken when using such products as they are intended for research use.

This server is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week . Timely delivery of data and products from this server through the Internet is not guaranteed. Official NWS dissemination systems which can provide timely delivery of data and products are listed below.

NOAA Weather Radio,
NOAA Weather Wire,
EMWIN®,
Family of Services (FOS),
NOAAPORT,
and your local National Weather Service.

Use of Data and Products
The information on government servers are in the public domain , unless specifically annotated otherwise, and may be used freely by the public so long as you do not 1) claim it is your own (e.g. by claiming copyright for NWS information -- see below), 2) use it in a manner that implies an endorsement or affiliation with NOAA/NWS, or 3) modify it in content and then present it as official government material. You also cannot present information of your own in a way that makes it appear to be official government information..

Before using information obtained from this server special attention should be given to the date & time of the data and products being displayed.

The user assumes the entire risk related to its use of this data. NWS is providing this data "as is," and NWS disclaims any and all warranties, whether express or implied, including (without limitation) any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. In no event will NWS be liable to you or to any third party for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or exemplary damages or lost profit resulting from any use or misuse of this data.

As required by 17 U.S.C. 403, third parties producing copyrighted works consisting predominantly of the material appearing in NWS Web pages must provide notice with such work(s) identifying the NWS material incorporated and stating that such material is not subject to copyright protection.

Hyperlinks
Any reference from NWS Web server service to any non-government entity, product, service or information does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration or any of its' field offices or employees. We are not responsible for the contents of any "off-site" web pages referenced from NWS servers.

I'm pretty sure I have complied with every element of the policy

So there you go it just goes to show we are not all equal in this world. Some are more equal than others.

So it's night from a relatively mild but but blowy UK as yet another storm comes through. I'd like to show you the empirical data on just how mild but it looks like I'm barred from that club

Sleep well

Dave

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Yep it's true

By deploying the new tech NOAA are only allowing the man in the street just one peek at the data per day

turning what was a dynamic almost realtime data stream into something right up there next to pointless

Use your one view per day wisely friends

Don't click on this link unless this is definitely the last time you will need to see the info it contains today

http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/current/EGVA.html

don't go squandering your chance willy nilly biggrin

Right..... so that's 24 virtual machines each with their own public facing IP address coonected back to MySQL on port 3306.....

It might take a little while longer and a few more quid but I will bring you the unadulterated truth about our Climate

Promise

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

I am now absolutely certain that the NOAA DNS entries now have the akamai.net caching proxy servers provided in front of the public facing server for everyone wherever you are

So the formerly available hourly data updates have been taken away from us all

They cache a copy and serve up the data from the proxy servers rather than the webserver. There's a 24 hour cache expiry time so the dynamic hourly data that was available to us all is now a 24 hour snapshot in time

This has the effect of hiding the formerly available temperature trend data away from the common man

Not important to know how a deep low is progressing your way or a heat wave or a cold snap? Now NOAA are not proving you with the timely info you need to plan the appropriate actions, the info provided could now be up to 23 hours old

The knock on effect being we cannot now collect the data to potentially disprove the alarming claims of the warmists. thinking

Which for us, who haven't swallowed the hype, is the inconvenient truth

One year on from Climategate

http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2010/no...ate-science-was-redefined

shhh I think NOAA might have made a change and it might be back on. If not I have found another way, slightly less dynamic updating once a day but still the same METAR whistling

Don't tell above a dozen biggrin

As Glaciers Melt, Science Seeks Data on Rising Seas:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/14/science/earth/14ice.html?_r=2&hp

Scientists long believed that the collapse of the gigantic ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica would take thousands of years, with sea level possibly rising as little as seven inches in this century, about the same amount as in the 20th century.

But researchers have recently been startled to see big changes unfold in both Greenland and Antarctica.

As a result of recent calculations that take the changes into account, many scientists now say that sea level is likely to rise perhaps three feet by 2100 — an increase that, should it come to pass, would pose a threat to coastal regions the world over.

UK weather forecast for snow and prolonged cold spell

BBC forecaster Matt Taylor said: "It's not just a short, sharp shock, it'll be around well into next week."

He added: "We've had snow earlier than this, but to have as much as this across a large part of the country, we have to go back to about 1993."

2 weeks earlier than last year which ended up like this

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/mar/02/british-winter-coldest-30-years

Clearly we are not in the grip of Carbon Dioxide fuelled catastrophic round of ever increasing Global Temperatures

Instead we are just enjoying the fluctuations in our local Star's output

as ever

Dave

p.s. Bought my Thinsulate Hat today to go with my Thinsulate gloves I bought yesterday

I did warn you cool
