RT, looks like you're making progress with your HPF2 issue. Only time I've see upload issues with 6.6.36 or 6.6.38 across lots of projects is when the project servers are down. Did you see anything on the Messages tab at the time BOINC tried to upload?I messed up by not looking at the message queue on that machine when that happened (that bunch of WUs that seemed to be hung up trying to upload). Sorry! The good news is that they all got uploaded OK. I just switched my machines to Rice for a few weeks. This should take effect tomorrow morning some time when the machines' work queues are depleted of HPF2 work units. I think the upload issue is with that version of BOINC (6.6.38) rather than the HPF2 (HPF2 had other issues with 64 bit quads that I never did understand...and as far as I can tell, neither did anyone else; changing BOINC levels was just a shot in the dark and I am thinking probably did not have anything to do with the other issue. But who knows ).Completing the HPF2 WUs in the various queues, should turn my HPF2 badge sapphire. I ran 17+ years worth of HPF1 but this second phase just doesn't inspire confidence from my perspective. Edit> add info Hmmm.....doesn't that get saved in a file for a while somewhere??? Edit: Either I'm good or lucky (gotta be the latter). Look for stdoutdae.txt in the BOINC directory (under ProgramData in Vista). You may still be able to find it there. Mine went back to the start of the previous time I started BOINCMgr. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by keithhenry at Oct 17, 2009 1:35:43 AM] |

Edit: Either I'm good or lucky (gotta be the latter). Look for stdoutdae.txt in the BOINC directory (under ProgramData in Vista). You may still be able to find it there. Mine went back to the start of the previous time I started BOINCMgr. Two out of three of my machines have another long-standing problem with HPF2. Occasionally, a WU will get stuck ... continuing to pile up CPU time but making no progress. It can be fixed by bouncing BOINC, whereupon the WU goes back to the last checkpoint and almost always completes successfully. However, all the accumulated CPU time after the checkpoint is lost which doesn't do anyone any good. Even though multiple people have reported the problem, the HPF2 programmers don't seem to be too interested in fixing it, so I don't run HPF2 unless it's the only thing available. The two machines that get stuck are both Pentium M's. The machine that doesn't have a problem is a Pentium D. All run WinXP. - D |

What level of BOINC are you running? I remember seeing that in the past with older levels of BOINC but it's been a while since that's happened to me.

Grumble grumble grumble
----------------------------------------https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/devi...s.do?workunitId=104000881 Take a look at the above. As of this moment, no-one has run this successfully. It is typical of a whole bunch of these that wasted the time of my I7 on Win 7 and my core2quad 9450. I should have gone sapphire but didn't on HPF2 last night. Look at the results from yesterday...see what it did to my points total as well....I am leaving the 4 quads on Rice and set the other hounds back on HPF2. As soon as it turns blue, I am outta there. ![]() Keith: I am attaching the log you were talking about from the I7-Win7 6.6.38 (64bit) -- Everything 64bit to an email I am sending you. What level of BOINC are you running? I remember seeing that in the past with older levels of BOINC but it's been a while since that's happened to me. One of the machines that exhibits the problem is 5.10.45 and the other is 6.6.36. The 6.6.36 machine also had the same problem with 6.2.28 (the current WCG recommended release). I'll give it another try when WCG decides that a newer BOINC release is stable enough or if a new version of the HPF2 application becomes available, but I'm not optimistic that it will solve the problem. - D |

Looks like my mail needed a little cleaning up. Try now. |

I had a Pentium M way back. The problem was way back too as best as I can recall. It might be tied in to going too long without a recycle/reboot. I take you run your machine 24/7 and normally don't go around exiting and restarting BOINC so how often do you reboot? |
