confused Will there be intermittant work?

I only need three days work to get to silver. Any news of intermittent work coming from the scientists anytime soon?

Thanks,

Nickoli biggrin

There are no firm plans, so previous posts said, just that the pot is left open to do a few refinement batches. If there is, when there is, church bells will chime. Subscribe to the RSS for this forum and you would get automatic notification.

Re: Will there be intermittant work?

Also, remember to leave DDD-T Phase 1 selected in your "My Projects" page, that way if there is new work your computer will try to download it when contacting the servers.

Re: Will there be intermittant work?

I had left DDD-T Phase 1 selected in my projects/profile pages. I just however noticed that this option is no longer an option in the checkboxes listed there.

Someone working on the webpage or is it planned that this will only show back up as an option if/when some phase 1 work becomes available again?

Thanks

Re: Will there be intermittant work?

Yes, it was noted in other thread that the marker turned 'completed' instead on the anticipated 'intermittent'. I'm sure it will get restored with in some way.

Re: Will there be intermittant work?

Stan has indicated that if there is any additional work it is likely to be a very very small amount (maybe 1000 results here and there). It is likely that there is less work than we have in a medium sized beta test.

Any user who is currently opted into receiving DDDT work will be able to receive this work when it is issued.

However, we did not want the box to display on the registration page because it would be unfortunate and a bit misleading if a new user joined, signed up to receive only DDDT work and then didn't get any.

As a result we have gone ahead and made the project 'completed' and removed it from the My Projects page.

Please note that if you update the My Projects settings, you will remove the DDDT setting.

Re: Will there be intermittant work?

Kevin,

I can see some potential "problems" with going this route.

You have a valid point about a potential new user joining and signing up to receive only DDDT-1 work and then not getting anything.

The flip side to that is that it's likely to impact a larger amount of current users (as opposed to new users) in that there are those of us who sometimes adjust our current projects. If I understand what you said correctly, that means that once we switch to a new project or a new project mix, that we will then in effect never have an option to receive any DDDT-1 units ever again.

For those of us who are "chasing" other badges (probably the most frequent reason for changing our project mix) and are only a short distance away from the next badge level in DDDT-1, we will then have no way to possibly enter the pool for those last few needed DDDT-1 WU's.

Also, if one selects "all projects" will that select DDDT-1 even though it is no longer a visible checkbox?

What about a simple change to the project selection page which would indicate that the project is intermittant and that selecting only that project may result in not getting any WU's at all.

I know those working behind the scenes at WCG likely have more pressing and important things to worry about and concentrate on, but for those of us in the situation described above, we'd appreciate any consideration.

Other thoughts on this?

Thanks
