Re: Computers used for crunching...

where do you see how much work is done from a single computer in one day ?

Is it "show host average" in the statistics tabs of the boinc manager ?

if so your i7 is 40 times better than my Athlon X2 4800 + lol

Re: Computers used for crunching...

At work I have a single-core 1.8 CPU running, 2Gbs of RAM! laughing

At home a 2.8Ghz P4 HT (2 cores), also 2Gbs of RAM. biggrin

If I can, will upgrade to either a Core2Duo or Quad Core system at home later this year, possibly.

Re: Computers used for crunching...

I do the math myself to determine ppd based on the "Device Statistics History" part of "My Grid" page. The i7 is a beast at crunching but it is also a bit expensive to buy the hardware itself, I built my own to save a couple hundred USD. It is also pretty expensive in electricity usage and generates quite a bit of heat. Right now I am running a little lower (3.6 GHz) than max (4.05 GHz) so I can drop the volts necessary as air conditioning (summer time here in north east USA) adds a lot to the electricity bill.
