Monster WU

I have a CEP WU that has a CPU time of 122:42:23 and it shows only 85% done. I know it has been running for a couple of days, but cant believe 122 hours. It shows 20 hours left. It looks like the wingman finished it in 14 hours and another one aborted after 33 hours.

This is an I7 920 under Ubuntu so it is not a slow machine. Should I just give up and abot it?

Re: Monster WU

At this point in time why don't you let it finish ? they might learn something from the disparity in run times.

Cheers

I looks like this WU is just stuck. It ran all night and elapsed time keeps growing but it just stays at 85%, ao after three days I am just going to give up and abort.

Re: Monster WU

I had two WUs which did exactly the same and got stuck. Wasted some dozen hours.

I managed to "unstuck" one of those by suspending and resuming it after removing the "leave applications in memory" flag. The elapsed time changed from 36 to 6 hours and it started crunching again. Unfortunately I don't know the name of that WU.

The other one is running now on my PC, I tried the trick again, the elapsed time indeed changed from 9 and something to 6 hours but it isn't making any progress... still stuck at 70,476%. The WU is the E000754_ 189C_ 006v0590k_ 0-- and I can see that it has been completed succesfully once. I will wait some more but if it doesn't make any progress I'll abort it.

I'm not really happy with this because if I didn't look after the PC those WU would keep going forever, wasting my work. I hope you'll find a solution.

OS is Ubuntu 9.04 64bit, BOINC 6.4.5

Re: Monster WU

I managed to unstuck it by repeating the trick.

Elapsed time went back again to 6 hours (from 6 hours and a half) and progress went back too to 68% and something. Now it's working and will complete in approximately 3 hours.

Hope the output will help solving the issue
