I've been getting this for quite some time now which has made me really stop using boinc. My default preferences are set to work from all projects, use no more than 1GB disk space, leave at least 1GB free, no more than 99% total disk space, and write to disk every 60 seconds. Help would be appreciated before I write off boinc all together. ~Jamie |

Hello kc9lfd,
Line 4: 06-May-2009 11:04:43 [---] Data directory: /usr/home/jamie I bet that you have a lot in directory jamie. BOINC just measures the total files in jamie and compares with the limits you set. Instead, use a dedicated directory with only BOINC data in it, such as /usr/home/jamie/BOINC Lawrence |

Your choice of data directory probably isn't a great one. If you set your data directory to /usr/home/jamie then everything in /usr/home/jamie will be included when BOINC calculates its disk usage.
Create a separate directory for BOINC, and your problem will be solved. The default for FreeBSD is (I think) /var/db/boinc Finally, our recommended BOINC version is 6.2.15. May I ask how you installed BOINC? |

Your choice of data directory probably isn't a great one. If you set your data directory to /usr/home/jamie then everything in /usr/home/jamie will be included when BOINC calculates its disk usage. I'm trying with --dir /usr/home/jamie/.boinc, let's see how that rolls. ... Looks like it's working. Cheers. (Thank you lawrencehardin and Didactylos for the suggestion) Create a separate directory for BOINC, and your problem will be solved. The default for FreeBSD is (I think) /var/db/boinc I don't think it's /var/db/boinc, that wouldn't make sense. I get where you're going, but I'm also running this as a normal user and not a specific boinc user. Maybe once this gets rolling I'll create a seperate user and make this process more automated. Finally, our recommended BOINC version is 6.2.15. May I ask how you installed BOINC? I installed it from the FreeBSD ports collection. |

Yes, it's /var/db/boinc
http://people.freebsd.org/~pav/boinc.html Why does this not make sense? It makes much more sense to me than the Linux defaults. |

Yes, it's /var/db/boinc http://people.freebsd.org/~pav/boinc.html Why does this not make sense? It makes much more sense to me than the Linux defaults. Why would an application's workplace be in /var/db? But an ls of /var/db shows a boinc directory owned by boinc. I'll play with it a little later but at least it's working now. My dual 800mhz speed demon is now doing something useful. I'll probably get my PVR in on some of this action soon as well. |

This isn't really BOINC-related, so feel free to delete it after Jamie acks seeing it...

Personal info like that has been excised from the whois database, but it appears the FCC's public records still need some work in re privacy. 3333333 from 8-land.
