Mine is also an on board graphics: chiipsets Intel G33/ICH9 on an ASUS P5K-V mother board.
However I am not experiencing the problem under XP, only with Ubuntu.

uplinger, sorry: 2 days ago, i've upgraded (er, reinstalled from scratch) my system to Fedora11pre and now all images of screensaver renders normal. Seems, that it was drivers' issue. Now, mine are: Mesa-dri-drivers-7.5-0.14, xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.7.0-4
