SETI reduces the credits to approximate the work done with a CPU ... or that's the buzz I hear. You will like GPUGrid better me thinks. laughing

peace

EDIT: I must edit this. If your are getting 45 credits (not WCG dog year points) for a 12 minute job that is rather good. A 16 hour wu @ GPUGrid is just short of 5K credits. I feel better now. biggrin

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 34 smilesmile

Here's some interesting information on how much electricity this takes on just two computers running CPU and GPU crunching.
I have both computers plugged into the same UPS. My UPS tells me how many watts I'm pulling. With both computers up and crunching, it's pulling about 450 watts. When I shut down the crunching, it drops to around 200 watts.
Now if I could just decode my stupid California electric bill, I could figure out how much 250 watts an hour costs, and start deducting that on my taxes. If they decide to audit me, I can show them the computers and say "See", this is what they do all day and all night long.
Next thing, I'm going to pause the GPU crunching and see how many watts that is.

In California PG&E's rates are in tiers. Tier 4 (the one I wallow in) is $0.38/KW hour. Plus they raise the rate or lower the tier about every 6 months. devilish

I am watching the History Channel, and they are talking about LED watches, that came out in the 70's. They are saying how they weren't too popular, yet I still have mine! LOL. I can't get a battery for it anymore, but I would if I could!

Well, if my math is correct, 0.38 an hour times 24 hours is $9.12 a day, times 365 days is $3,328.80 a year. That would be a nice deduction!

What are they going to say, NO?

No wonder why I am always broke! laughing

Edit - Oops - may math isn't right. Your number was for 1KW, and I am only using .25KW.
So, my usage is $832 a year. I can probably pull that one off...
