@Chris Brown: If you are still interested, the test of the 8500GT continues. 31% complete after 27 hours. sad It will make the deadline but is like watching a glacier melt. laughing If you want to use yours, try a clock speed of 660 core, 1320 shader and 500 memory. I could not get the memory clock above 500. I'll let you know how it turns out in a couple of days. peace

I will try for within the minute next time. wink

laughing biggrin laughing And you will probably do it.

Hey Blizz ... while mucking around with that 9500GT today for Chris I found it was quite easy to get the core and shadders to within a click or two of blue screen. Where I get into trouble is the memory clock. Is there a ratio or something I'm missing? I blew up 11 GPUGrid wu's today while playing around ... I don't think they are going to send me a christmas card this year. laughing biggrin laughing

Hey dataman - I got my 9800 GT on Monday, and I got my motherboard yesterday. Today, I have my web server and weather station up and running, and the GPU crunching is running as well.

The weather station software hates to be moved to a different computer, so I'm working out some kinks in that. I haven't played with o/c on the card yet and I'm not even sure what the temp is. I have a slot cooler I'm going to drop in there before I start torturing it!

I joined MOT on GPUGRID and I already have questions about the crunching, but need to work on this weather station - more later....

Thanks for the testing, Dataman. I decided my computer room was hot enough and since I had to buy a new motherboard I just went with a single GPU. I bought a Gigabyte MB and the 9800 GT. So far it's working pretty good!

Let me know when the glacier melts! smile

I know too well what you mean by moving the weather station. sad Especially rainfall. We in CA measure it from July 1 to June 30 and you have to do that offset thing to make it right. crying

I see you now at GPUGrid. applause If you need any help, just post. I am sure Jonathan, Blizzie and I have stepped on every land mine possible by now. biggrin Don't forget to get the latest driver from nVida and BOINC 6.6.20 is working great for both CPU and GPU. smile

If you want to try your 8500GT's use the settings I posted earlier. Don't get too worried about GPU temps. They run hotter. I've one that thinks 80C is just sunbathing. laughing biggrin laughing

Dataman,

The Aspens is the id that I (knreed) crunch under. I rejoined the team today as a tribute to your captain.

That bit of cpu power is actually coming from 3 of the old production servers. Just this week we finally got a variety of virtual machines built on them to test various flavors of windows and linux. Since we just pushed the Linux, Windows and Mac into beta we aren't currently running any dev work so they can spend a little time helping out MOT.

I upgraded to Bionic 6.6.2, got up this morning and checked my main computer and I have over 100 SETI wu's waiting to run. All of them have an expected completion time of 12 mins. They all want to use CUDA and I can't get them to start.

Edit - Okay, I figured out the problem. The "Use GPU While In Use" box wasn't checked. I guess SETI just decided to keep giving me work until one of them went through.
It's never going to get through all of these, though! LOL
