On my i7 920 12GB Vista 64-bit rig, Human Proteome Folding - Phase 2 6.03 continues to fail frequently. Sometimes the processing happens correctly, though.

Very strange. I have my Intel Vista Quad and my AMD Vista Dual added back to HPF2 for the new badges since I am only 20 days short from 1 year crunching badge.

With W7 it's probably the same impossible to diagnose cause as under Vista. HPF2 always or frequently fail with this error within the first few minutes. If sporadic, you can choose to leave this science in your device profile. If you have more computer crunching and HPF2 fails frequently on W7, better create an additional profile and take this science out of the selection, then associate the device with this profile (school, work, home)

This appear appears to occur with increased frequency on specific workunits. We have managed to identify some of the workunits that it is most likely to occur on and we are running these on our development servers. We have now been able to reproduce this error about once every two days with machines in our development environment. Now that we can reproduce the issue we are going to be running a debug version of the code that logs significantly more data so that we can capture the details about what is going on. Once we have that data we can formulate a plan of action going forward.
This error does occur with a small frequency compared to overall number of results being returned correctly. In most cases the error occurs very quickly so little cpu time is being lost to this error. As a result, we will continue to allow HPF2 to run while we investigate this issue. |

By coincidence, my device's fans had sprung up to max just before the start of this job. Same happened to me. How can a WU control the fan? Please, if any techician can explain, thank you! Until then, shutting down my WCG. |

The WU does not directly control the fan, it is that the WU may be causing the processor to work harder so your computer knows it needs to make the fan go faster to keep it cool.

Sorry Steve,
but i can't believe this. My computers are running at 100% 24/7 And the fan is only running riot when a HPF2 WU starts. |
