Hey,
Yesterday I rebooted my computer, the calculation of the (new) task was about 3%. After rebooting, the task starts with a progress of 0,29%. And the same was it today. What could be the problem? I have to mention that this task "interrupted" (?) another task (of another project) which was about 80% calculated. Thanks and bye (and sorry for my english, but I tried my very best )Felix |

One possibility is that the job had not reached a the next checkpoint. You can activate the message logging of these. Read this FAQ:
----------------------------------------http://worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=11332 Noting is that if you have the option active to not compute when the computer is in use and "leave application in memory when pre-empted" option is NOT on, the science will unload each time it is interrupted, thus goes back to last checkpoint when resuming. Let us know, but try let run it longer to see if progress holds.

a very big step for a very small computer ;) Hi Felix! HPF2 is probably the worst of WCG active projects regarding the time between two consecutive checkpoints. If you have a slower machine you might consider selecting DDDT and/or Rice projects to keep it at its best. DDDT has the shortest period between checkpoints, so it is ideal for slow computers or for those that are switched on and off several times a day. The checkpointing period of Rice is a little longer, but still reasonably short, with the other advantage for slow machines that the time spent on a given task is constant, 7 hours currently. Cheers. Jean. |

What kind of PC do you have and how often do you let it run WCG?
My concern is that if you do have an older PC then DDDT, while having the most frequent checkpoints, also is the most heavily processing intensive app so may not be suitable for your PC, Rice might be better from a pure processing perspective. |

DDDT, while having the most frequent checkpoints, also is the most heavily processing intensive app so may not be suitable for your PC What makes you say so? It needs more RAM than Rice but it is still reasonable, and it uses more files, but it is every 7 hours (or more for a slow machine), so what? I am not saying "no", I just need to understand. Cheers. Jean. |

I was trying to be careful in using the words "may not be suitable" and saying that only after asking what the target PC is.
"So what?" I suppose I should have been more vague or more precise depending on who was reading the post and how they interpret it I was not trying to say that DDDT would not run, but if Moprphisto is having difficulty reaching checkpoints due to the amount of time the PC is on and actively crunching, combined with an assumption on my part that this is an older PC ("a very big step for a very small computer") I wonder if it will actually be able to finish a WU that is not specifically fixed time window like Rice. Morphisto has been registered for 3 weeks but has not returned any results yet. |

OK, I see. You mean if he is not "on" long enough every day? In that case, yes, Rice is definitely my recommendation too.

I apprecaite you patience with me ... after four months I am still learning that I should never imply anything and that I need to type out my thoughts fully and clearly.
