Once the good docs realized I had a problem, they pulled strings, ropes, and chains to get me in. 6 weeks of pre-op in 3 days. Love 'em!
Not worried. Things would go a lot worse with the leak left unplugged than they will be cutting off the leak. Got tickled today that they used me as a teaching tool for a new nurse to show how a spiky EKG can be a warning sign of severe anemia. Well, DUH. Cut off oxygen to the heart, it ain't happy. They need to haul that boy out to the shop and let him see if pistons fire w/o air to burn. |

Actually it's a send me home the same day as it's not a huge incision thing anymore. Want to get me away from all the nasty germies and let me get a good night's sleep in my own bed without people running in and out every few hours.
If I didn't have a "history" medically speaking, it would be done in a doc's office. But for my safety, they're doing it under general in an OR in case any of the military's staples, duct tape, or sealing wax comes loose while they're fixing the leak. I've had 2 showers with antibacterial goop tonight and I'm to do one more in the morning before packing up and getting a good buddy to drive me. I'm promised drugs for tomorrow afternoon/evening that will make me zonk nicely until Friday some time. Then I'm to get up and potter as pottering is far safer than lying in bed for things to settle where they ought not. By next week, I should feel MUCH better as blood will be staying where it's supposed to. |
