Climbing in the rankings heading through 40k by next update, I estimate.
I'll be watching for Lee Ann's afterburners above me. |

I lost my dual-core cruncher yesterday. Think it is hard drive corruption (in the hardware, not software sense). Will have to reinstall on a new drive, but probably won't have time for a week or so. Maybe Lee Ann will catch me now. ![]() That sucks!!! I've got a Quad, a Dually, and an AMD 64 2.8 down just because I can't find the time to rebuild them.....but I doubt anyone will "Catch" you now ...perhaps Daily Output; but Over All....would be a HUGE strain to over take you ![]() EDIT that...The Quad is breathing FIRE again!!!! The next 3 or 4 days should be interesting ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Sport at Oct 30, 2010 11:26:48 PM] |

Oh my! Crunching with the windows open down here.
Soared past 40k tonight. Never been this high, even in the early days when crunching was new and not many were on. |

ok guys this is getting serious
Time to go shopping for another build Got a challenge for you Sport and any others who have any suggestions - next build I want to go green - lowest energy cost with the biggest bang and a somewhat budget price. I don't do GPU computing so that is not a consideration - on board video/sound is sufficient. No monitor needed as I run my rigs off a KVM switch. AMD or Intel CPU - it doesn't matter as I have both oh GP - if Sport didn't come up with a KVM for you - check out Newegg for a IOGear 4 port USB hub - I picked mine up on sale for around $20, so you may need to watch for a while. Even at current price which I think is $40 it is a good buy. |

If it is a 4 port KVM and includes Cables (PS2 or USB??) that is a smoking deal!!! Let me look through the parts house ..you'll need a Power Supply, Motherboard, CPU, HDD& Opticle Drive (if you don't have some laying around) , and RAM....probably want a case; or are you willing to go a bench machine? For a dedicated cruncher 2 gig of RAM is more than enough so a low end 2 Slot MoBo will do! AMD Phenom definitely fits bang for the buck; unless you want lots of BANG and have lot's of BUCKS then its i7!!! ...once you get the adrenaline rush from GPU computing, you'll never go back after producing 60,000 to 100,000 cobbles/per day/per card of honest humanitarian work!!!! Add $100 for an upgraded PSU and a decent entry level ATI 48XX card and you will be in another level without price checking; I could probably build this AMD Phenom Quad bench machine for around $200 ...add GPU and really squeeze the $ ....less than $350!!!!!! Add $70+- for a decent Case... I'll get back with you with a parts list and prices ![]() ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by Sport at Oct 31, 2010 12:20:39 PM] |
