Y'all are going to have to explain this KVM thing to me.
Blush Would be nice to move the noisy grinder into the cupboard at the far end of the house with the primordial slime cruncher. Currently have to turn it off at night due to noise. |

A KVM is a small switching box that uses one Keyboard, one Video(monitor), and one Mouse KVM, to support multiple computers by switching from one machine to the next.
----------------------------------------One Keyboard, one Video, and one Mouse plug into the input side; multiple computers plug their Keyboard, Video, and Mouse cables into the output side .... unfortunately they all need to be in close proximity to each other, a large desk is ideal ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Sport at Oct 31, 2010 1:02:58 PM] |

It is USB and did include cables Sport - a bit of delay once in awhile switching from machine to machine, but not enough to cause problems. Unless you are a speed freak of course lol
----------------------------------------I was really pleased with it, especially at price I paid. Been using it for about 8-9 mos. with no problems. I have a Seasonic PSU and no HD or optical needed as I have plenty of those to spare. Case is dependent on whether I want to move the aging slower duo to smaller case and let it be cruncher only or replace it entirely as the MB was a refurb and have lost pieces - secondary IDE and ethernet connection so far. The MB was an emergency replacement when I found the CPU was incompatible with the northbridge on the MB I had. Keep in mind that this will be come a secondary, if not primary video/audio processor as well which is the role the faster duo is serving now. The older duo is my web, email etc machine. Which means I will want 4 slots for memory. Memory I can wait for Black Friday and see what deals come up there. Eidt - The AMD quad is my daughters and was built to do SAS programming so much higher end and built to run as cool as possible. @GP if all you want is to get the grinder to a distant corner you could watch for sales on wireless router and card. I paid $20 for the router and somewhere around the same for the card. Then just move it, turn it on and ignore it. Check your results every once and while to make sure its still sending 'em in. Check your results every once and while to make sure its still sending 'em in. personally I'd opt in for a fresh 550 watt PSU ...$45( I have one of these and love it) An ASUS AM2+ MoBO @$75 an AMD Phenom Quad processor @$60 You will need a cooler but I'm sure you have a decent one laying around or add$35 for a top shelf Cooler 2X2 gig DDR2 RAM@$80 $260 so far.....$295 with cooler Add a decent Case @$45 And we are in the $300/$350 range for a machine that will kick butt*!!!! EDIT: I have 2 Quads built on this basic config and have no complaints. Both are running GPU's, one has an Ultra 750 PSU the other an Ultra 550 PSU...one was a rebuild the other is a bench machine built from scratch *edited to appropriate forum language - ErikaT EDIT: OOPS Sorry Erika... I'll watch myself!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 5 times, last edit by Sport at Nov 3, 2010 12:42:09 AM] |

Currently grinding plugged into my TV. But need that for the faster shiney, so I have to figure a way to put the grinder next to the primordial slime, which has a monitor. Don't have the space, otherwise. I can tuck both on a wire shelf for coolness. Both have wireless dongles as the whole house is wireless after AT&T replaced my nth Motorola modem to burn out with a wireless gateway/modem.
