The laptop that had the bad cpu fan; again burned up another fan. I will be ordering another one soon so will be down on points for a while. meanwhile had to do a fresh install on another lappy and remove a lot of HP bloatware and it is much faster now. ( it seem that HP did not do them selves any favors when they issued their laptops)

4 years ago they bought HP desktops for us at work. Mine lasted less than a year, had to argue with HP on what the problem was. Once they accepted I knew more than they did, they informed me that they no longer had a power supply for that model and would have to send a new PC instead. Nice except for all the programs that were installed on bad one. So finally got that all sorted out and the only way it'll work is if I'm logged onto 2 different ISPs simultaneously. Complete POS. They now buy Dell.

I agree with your assessment of their products. I disassembled the laptop and was able to get it to working again. Even while being very careful still broke 3 main mounting points so, left the bottom casing off and removed the main screen mounted the upper section to a riser and attached a usb mouse/keyboard and hdmi to a spare monitor. will do well crunching for the rest of it's days

I use a couple of laptops someone threw away for crunching, I keep a cooling pad with a build in fan under them, so far so good, been running for 2 + years.

Base Camp was supposed to be on R&R until we began The International Team 3.0 trek.
However, OldChap and VietOZ's team XtremeSystems would like some help in a challenge. Base Camp would like to return the help we received during the THOR Challenge when our combined efforts landed SNURK and Friends at #4. Please - if you feel like it - join XtremeSystems and we'll call it a trek and have an Xtreme badge made up for you. ![]() |
