Re: SeriousCrunchers Attempting Re-Entry

Wow, SeriousCrunchers starts out in position 15. Very good. applause That is about twice the daily run time from round 1. Can we keep it up for 6 more days? Dig out those old smartphones and tablets and give those flabby electrons a work-out. Let's see what you've got. devilish

Cheers

Re: SeriousCrunchers Attempting Re-Entry

Round 1 would've turned out better had I known we were in the challenge. Instead I spent nearly the entire month crunching for the competition.

Re: SeriousCrunchers Attempting Re-Entry

As I understand it, the THOR Challenge Round 2 runs from scratch, acpartsman,
so none of your truly amazing effort should be lost.
When I asked SNURK to enter SNURK and friends into the THOR Challenge back in September,
I had no idea what it implied. Poor recog blushing
Besides, I noticed Field Marshall NixChix joined here for a bit, as his ambition and wish are
- as are mine although I chose (for OldChap and myself as long as he allows me) to root for SNURK
that SeriousCrunchers will end among the 10 best team out of presently 18 participating.

Re: SeriousCrunchers Attempting Re-Entry

biggrin Just added 8 more cores for the challenge. that gives me 3 laptops, 1 desktop, 2 tablets and 2 cell phones (1 note 8 and 1 lg v30 ) that gives me a total of 34 cores. they may not be very fast but, every core counts. peace

@acpartsman the 2 xeon comps are being used at a friends small business. As they used more power than I could afford, crying it was a good fit for them. wink

Every core does count. This challenge is based on hours. The fastest super computer is no better than my array of old smartphones. whistling

Cheers coffee

Re: SeriousCrunchers Attempting Re-Entry

SeriousCrunchers has a very good chance of making it above the Top Ten line in Round 2 of the THOR Challenge.
If you have no team affiliation, you may want to join SeriousCrunchers now.
You will earn this badge
and the rare bonus badge for having climbed the THOR Mountain
Besides, you'll get a lot of pleasant team mates
and a Captain that allows you to go on Base Camp treks batting eyelashes
