My quad picked up a B unit, estimated at 5 hours. Hasn't started yet. Is it still advisable to keep them from running concurrently or was the PF issue fixed? I am running on my quad withoput any problems..very smooth to be frank. ![]()

Nobody is claiming they're not running 'smooth' concurrently on a quad, with enough brute power, GIBA. Problem is, that 1 at the time makes results on my Q6600 quad and duo centrino run 20% faster than 2 concurrent and 4 they run even longer. So, I've set up a profile that pulls them in on low frequency, when available, currently HFCC, RICE, TCEP. That's when my systems hum best. For other setups it could be different, that will always be so.

Earlier one of my quads had a constant page fault delta of 6000 so the PF issue is still there *edit* Currently constant at 8500 on a different machine (28% complete) ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 20, 2009 12:25:05 PM] |

I am running CEP on my single core systems, which are slower, but they can only have one WU at a time.

What's your buffer/cache size like Saul and how many hours a day has the client been running on average in the past few weeks? I modified the cache from its default to 14 days only with DDDT, HFCC, Rice & CEP to get them to gold and then I'll change to 'All projects' as usual. I've reduced the buffer to 3 days now. According to my stats I've 1 CEP WU completed. Cheers. |

Saul,
----------------------------------------Well, not sure how you got 14 days in there when 10 is max, but given the 10 days deadline just up from 9 on DDDT, FAAH, HCC and HFCC and 12 days on RICE & CEP, your client is thinking it is in deep deadline problems, which is why there was the overcommit line Computer on 80.3% of time, BOINC on 97.4% of that. Just let it run until things have stabilized at 3 days, then the client will start fetching work again.

Well, not sure how you got 14 days in there when 10 is max... In the website it's quite simple: you enter 14 and you save! I have just tried and there is no validity checking. However I have not pushed the test to see if 14 is reduced to 10 or rejected when the client receives it. In BoincMgr local preferences the maximum 10 is enforced correctly. Honestly when I decided to do the test I was expecting the opposite: accepted in local preferences and rejected in the website. Cheers. Jean. |
