As for P4HT, HFCC jobs have quite a burden with them so running 2 at the same time, one on a virtual core may not be the recommended way to crunch these. Any serious reference to support this statement (I mean for HFCC specifically)? Sekerob or anybody else. Personally I have not logged all of them but for what I still have it's 31 WUs for 17 days of runtime without any particular problem. OK they take longer than if they were running alone, but this is not a problem, it is just working as designed. Cheers. Jean. |

Let us wait on the answers, before I fill you in where I'm heading, but note that the 6.10 version on quad compared to when I took notes shortly after launch, have virtually no Page Faulting to mention. Mind you, I've been tweaking, patching and cleaning heck out of Vista in the past week, so who knows.
----------------------------------------But do tell us how long longer is in your estimation. I know 2 CEP concurrently takes 20% longer, each, than sequential on a proper dual core. This effectively means 2.4 results are done sequentially in the time it takes 2 to run concurrently. Guess what I'm doing ;D

I have not run any comparative test as their duration is less homogeneous than HCC.
----------------------------------------For the 31 WUs I have logged- - the average duration is 13.18 hours (HCC was about 15 hours) - the shortest was 6.56 hours - the longest was 31.28 hours. If they behave more or less like HCC (the averages seem consistent) a WU needs 50 % more time in dual mode than in single mode, which gives a global throughput 33 % higher in dual mode vs single mode. Regarding page faults there are very few: delta shows 0 most of the time and for one WU which has already run 8:22 hours CPU the total page faults are about 760,000. It was more when I was testing HCC on this machine (1,000-2,000 pf/s) if I remember well. Edit: On the quad running 4 HFCCs under Ubuntu64 right now the average is 40 pf/s over 25 s for the total machine. Cheers.
