Jean, I don't even know how to look at the source of the post!! Sorry for not being more clear. Once you have started "Reply with quote" look at the sequence of the tags around "IBM" in your part and around "Not IBM" in mine. I know, that should work whatever the sequence in a friendly world and it will probably be so when the forum software is finally upgraded, but meanwhile you have to remember the working sequence if you want to use color. You can also check that you have nested the tags correctly by using the "Preview" option. I hope the beer was good and at the right (for you) temp. Cheers. Jean. |

Since millions of people have a Timex watch, can we port at least one of these applications to a Timex. I really really think that this is a really really great idea that someone else should do. But Rolex has the highest sales by value, so the Rolex port should be done first! |

Questions: Who provides the infrastructure of WCG? Who built Roadrunner - the first Petaflop supercomputer? Who invented the Cell processor used in the PS3? Answer:IBM Sorry, forgot to mention, here's the new prime number generator I borrowed from PrimeGrid!! // Prime number calculator #include <iostream> #include <cmath> using namespace std; int main() { int number , x; bool isprime; for (number = 1; number <= 10000; number++) { isprime = true; for (x = number; x > 1; x--) { if(number != x) { if((number % x) == 0) { isprime = false; } } } if(isprime == true) { cout << " " << number; } } return 0; } ![]() If you add in the check for checking no divisor greater than the sqrt of the number you're working on you'll speed up your generator. Odd that "Prime"Grid wouldn't have that in there... Faldor |

Not sure about Autodock but the impact on BOINC for CUDA is amazing. I have 17 hosts (with 51 cores) running on WCG and my BOINC average, for WCG, is 17,935. These machines range from a T2300 to an I7 965. I just added one GTX 260 on one of my machines and joined GPUGRID. After only one week, the average BOINC credit for the one GPU, on GPUGRID is 9,022. This raises my cobined BOINC average from 17,935 to 26,957.
----------------------------------------The machine I added the GTX260 to is an AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 940. According to BOINCstats, for WCG its average credit, for the one machine, is 1.678. For total BOINC, with the GTX260 included in the average, it is 10,700. That is impressive for a $200 upgrade. - Mitch ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Different projects give different amount of points.I'm not saying GPU is not faster, but just don't use the points as an argument. |

Agreed...BOINC points do not compare accross projects, but my dollar per BOINC point is significantly cheaper using CUDA on GPUGRID then CPU on WCG!

It would be great to have CUDA and non-CUDA jobs. non-CUDA for higher precision, for things that needs CPU power, and GPU for calculating "that" jobs. I have a spare GPU like this. (Nah I wont join to GPUgrid)

Hi,
I am new to this forum but 'very old' with WCG and BOINC/SETI. I actualy have a CUDA m/c and it just smashes the wu that are run with the GPU. The interresting argument here, is whether or not using CUDA the projects could benefit (run faster) and the benefits of these projects become available to the world faster. The points is an extra! |
