Morning all
----------------------------------------30 f with snow, only a sprinkle 1/2 inch maybe. Once a week paper purchase here as well. Unless some major event occurs like Rain Woony breaking a finger nail I do keep up with Telegraph on line and the Beeb web site, and take the local paper I must be saving the rain forests as my paper recycle bin is now not ram jam full as it was when I was a "Daily Man" |

I must be the oddball - but what else. I know I can get all the news that is necessary on the web but, to me, it's not the same as having the print on paper in front of you at the coffee table in the morning. So, I collect one daily and on Saturdays have a bonanza when I buy the Guardian, the Times and the FT. That's not primarily for the news although it's always interesting to read the slightly different slants on the same events. Mostly, it's the wealth of information on the arts with book reviews, details of films, DVDs upcoming broadcasts as well as food, wine and all the sports in some depth. As you can imagine, my recycling bag is pretty heavy when collected each week. Still pretty cold here but no sign of snow for the moment. I don't think the winter fuel allowance will go very far this year. |

Don't know what the temperature is, but wondering if my morning walk is sensible? Thick, white frost out there! Decision on hold for now.

My outside thermometer has only a Centigrade scale so I've tended to get used to that and when I see it on 5 degrees I know it's not the weather for going out unless necessary. I always liked the fact that minus 40 degrees was the same on both scales but I only actually came across the real thing in a winter in Winnipeg. |
