Evening all
Heavy tedding here too at the moment with more promised for tomorrow. I hope it doesn't force me to give up my weekly walk to the supermarket and get on a crowded bus. I did this once last year and finished up with a very heavy cold - perhaps I should take a mask with me. |

Morning All
----------------------------------------Sunny again not as nice as yesterday morning .... But by midday it was Tedding down big time so mayhap we will be dry until tomorrow We are in the middle of the digital Switch over in this area , or should that be the analogue switch off.On Nov 4 we had to retune freeview system's, we will have to do this again on Dec 2nd when the analogue signal finally vanishes ..and the digital signal comes to full power ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by densnaps at Nov 13, 2009 8:48:26 AM] |

Good morning all.
OK so I mixed up two brothers birthdays. I have the same problem with my sons, just eight days apart, but which comes first? LOL. |

I must have done something right, it was raining hard when I went for the paper but eased off and stopped by the time I left to walk to the supermarket and only started raining again after I'd got back home by cab. I gather the changeover went smoothly enough Den. Let us know if you see any noticable improvement in picture or availability once it's up to full strength. Can you then get BBC HD? |

Friday 13th passed with bad luck hitting CancerCare ..........
---------------------------------------- some ne'er-do-wells chucked a brick through a back window at 1745hrs They entered the room but couldn't get any further past locked door to rest of building they just set off the alarm system .I got called out as key holder had to wait for police then board up window. This morning went in and cleaned up broken glass from all over the room and did some more security work on building .The only upside to the break in was that it was Friday evening and not early hours of Saturday morning as was the last call Out I had about 12 months ago Felt like trying for 275Kv protective ring main........... Tedding down again here, with winds........... >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Digital switch as I said is still only half way through I can still get Analogue BBC 1&2 ITV 1 and channel 4 through Ariel ...Five has gone... My Tv is an LG HD Digital ready set I don't expect to be able to get HD programmes unless I subscribe to something or other ....... The Electrical retailer's are having a bonanza with folks upgrading older sets and discarding the set top freeview boxes . We at CancerCare are now not taking in these TVs for our shops as we cant sell them and have to pay to take them to the tip The council is charging 5 Quid to collect & take them of your hands .You can of course take them to the waste recycling centre yourself at no charge , that's if you are strong enough to be able to lift them Curry's and Dixon's did have a free removal & disposal scheme when you buy a new product. There is of course no need to replace Your TV if you have a digital box.As well as the TV there is of course your VHS/DVD recorder The freeview box can grab the signal and enable you to carry on recording .As Our area was known to be about to change this November, all of these devices should have been digital ready at least 12 months back , But of course some dealers sold non compatible products to unsuspecting customers. The signal strength of the digital signal has definitely increased already, and I will keep you posted |

Foolishly put the towels out on the line late this morning after the weekly wash because there was sun and a high wind. Naturally, shortly afterwards it started p...ing down so I had to get them back in and spin dry. Now they're decorating the radiators. Thanks Den for the update on changeover. It's just that my previous TV when phut about a year ago and so I had no option but to buy new and it was, of course, HD ready which without a dish means nothing. However, the changeover to digital was meant to allow more bandwidth scope so that BBC could transmit their HD on normal aerials. I can't say that I am in any way concerned because other sources have told me that if I hadn't more than a 24 inch screen you wouldn't even notice the difference. AND, the last thing I want is a wall dominated by a TV screen |
