Yes the National Health has not yet sorted the problem of dentistry although I read the other day they're moving to a different payment system in the hope of getting more active NI dentists.

I've been private since 1970 but am glad that I had my expensive stuff done when I was in Germany where the reciprocal NI arrangements meant that they paid 80% of the bill.

With the prices you are quoting Merle, it looks like going back to the days when Fathers paid to have their daughters teeth totally removed and fitted with dentures so that men were not frightened by the cost of looking after a prospective wife's dental bills.

I never new my parents with their own teeth and, as far as i can remember, the same applied to all my aunts and uncles.

With eyes, the NI has come good. I now get free inspections, had cataract operations on both eyes without cost and only vanity makes me pay something for the actual specs.

Yep Ivan, if I had all the money I have spent on my body over the last several years I would be a very rich woman!! Teeth (massive amounts), eyes - yep modern glasses - (at least for females) are maga expensive; my hair costs mega bucks every 5 weeks, and so it goes on. The only thing I got free were two new knees!! I HATE THIS GROWING OLD!!!
