The Spit Was photographed by a friend at this event
----------------------------------------CROWDS gathered in the sunshine for the annual wreath-laying ceremony to honour the memory of fallen Polish airmen. Spitfires from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flew past to start proceedings at noon for the 52nd annual commemoration at the Polish War Memorial, in West End Road, Ruislip, on Saturday the 8th. The ceremony was accompanied by music from the Middlesex Wing Band. Almost 400,000 Poles died defending Britain during the Second World War, and many of them had been stationed at RAF Northolt, in West End Road, Ruislip. 14,000 Hurricane's were built but there are only a dozen remaining in flying condition the last one built is in the Battle of Britain flight The number of German planes shot down by the Hurricane exceeded the total of other British aircraft put together They were used against bombers & so made England's shores safe where as the Spitfire tackled the fighters ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by densnaps at Sep 13, 2012 9:15:12 PM] |

Morning all .
----------------------------------------Very windy through the night along with heavy shower's but come the morning The Sun has got his hat on and he's coming out to play ...typical Frog behaviour! ???![]() Cheese eating photographers with long lenses???????? Or have I missed another event from across the ENGLISH channel. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/95420...ndness.html#disqus_thread ************************************************* ![]() Interesting item in the paper about a small farmer who installed a milk slot-machine Delivered an empty glass bottle that you the filled with full cream milk from the machine ........ I have Free range milk and eggs available at a local farm gate Okay I'm lucky enough to live in a city with nearby rural countryside . The milk is in a freezer cabinet chilled not frozen there is approx one third cream settled on the top of the bottle great on your Shredded wheat, Force, Or Grape-nuts its £1.50 ltr. I think Good value you can see the doner cows passing across the road for milking as those who know these thing will observe some of these beasts are non milking heifers there were in excess of 100 cows crossing over to the milking parlour The roadside shop might not work in the town as payment is by honesty box ![]() The guy in the picture has farmed there for 70 plus years taking over from his dad and grandfather. The young lass is his granddaughter the "milk maid" shouting the cows in with help of a couple of "sheep" dogs . I couldn't ever understand semi skimmed or skimmed milk. ( whats semi skimmed mean anyway ?) not quite skimmed almost done when we chuck the bottles across the pond like skimming stones to improve the flavour for skimmed , Semi skimmed we have to recover from the middle of the pond If you want to have coloured tea or coffee just sprinkle the milk powder. I only drink black coffee no tea Mrs snaps drinks just juices so milk is a drink on its own The cream does go into coffee on occasion . I dont think it would suit tea & I do prefer my tea Black ---------------------------------------- [Edit 6 times, last edit by densnaps at Sep 14, 2012 7:29:36 PM] |

True Alan ,
----------------------------------------Considering the so called "Laws" in France concerning invasion of privacy are totally ignored if it doesnt suit, or the victim is not in the french Parliament. Permission is required to take photographs of private citizens. public figures are fair game when performing public duties. When in a private environment ie off duty such as this case the intrusion is forbidden . In recent years magazines have emerged in the Hello style in France They are happy to budget for fines for transgressions the fines are getting smaller and no other sanctions are dealt out so much for the toothless law makers PS. sorry Alan , in your post about the Spitfire v Hurricane You did state the amount of recorded kills by the Hurricane . And I then I go and repeat it I knew I had got the info from a reliable source---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by densnaps at Sep 14, 2012 12:13:35 PM] |
