What's with WU # E000382_282A_002a14004 ??

I just finished crunching WU E000382_282A_002a14004_7 due back 2/19 and the results showed "Too Late". While this WU was in progress on my machine, the WU log for it showed 8 entries, 5 with "errors", 2 with "too late" and 1 "in progress" which was mine. When I completed and returned the WU, the progress log updated and showed mine "too late" and all the other 7 "error". Here is the completion log:

Result Log

<core_client_version>6.2.15</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<stderr_txt>
Calling initGraphics()
INFO: No state to restore. Start from the beginning.
Calling initGraphics()
called boinc_finish

</stderr_txt>
]]>

I also noticed that the 2 with "too late" notations were both returned within a day or so of being sent out. Is this WU in a loop or something?

Hi STARBASEn,
After 7 errors, a work unit is withdrawn from the server. No more copies are sent out. I do not know exactly what will happen with your 8th result. You will have it on your Results Page for 4 days. My guess is that it will also turn into an error before the 4 days are up.

Hi lawrencehardin,

Thanks for the reply. I just thought it was kind of weird that the 8 iterations history of the WU appeared to give all respondents a "too late" initially when all were returned before the deadline and subsequently given an "error" later as more participants returned the unit also prior to the deadline with each given a "too late". Guess it was just a strange one smile

Hi STARBASEn,
Yes, it seemed weird to me too. But CEP has been throwing up so many errors and getting so much massaging from the staff that I just shrug when it does strange things like that. I know that there have been cases when whole batches had their deadline extended on the server after being sent out. I do not know what could have caused the strange behavior that you reported.
