applause Re: News about Mac/Linux?

WOOHOO!!!

I got a Mac beta unit too!

In fact, It's the first beta unit I've ever had for any project. I only just signed up for beta units a few weeks ago, specifically to help with the CEP for mac...

I want to mention that when I first posted this thread, it was intended to gently encourage the developers... NOT to harangue them into hating us Mac/Linux users.

I think we often forget that this whole wcg thing is mostly entertainment for us users, and for very little effort on our part, we get the good feeling of doing something good for the world.

The developers, OTOH, are working their butts off on it. And they had some unexpected windows bugs to fix in the past couple of weeks... So I'm happy to give them a little breathing room to choose their priorities as they see fit.

Thanks very much to all the developers, scientists and others who make wcg work!

It seems like the beta units I'm getting finish long before the indicated completion time. But so far out of 7 units there has only been one error.

Re: News about Mac/Linux?

Am hoping it won't be to much longer for us mac users to start crunching these wu's. My new 8 core mac is chompin at the bit to crunch clean energy project. Would hate to have to install windoze on my mac to do this. Is WCG any closer at getting wu's to us?

Re: News about Mac/Linux?

I'm running on Linux x86_64, have beta enabled, and am getting "The Clean Energy Project is not available for your type of computer". Is this problem specific to x86_64? Or is there something else going on?

Thanks for any info.
