Re: 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing

Who cares!! They are no longer the games that they should be for just the fun of it with no pay. All they are these days is to make the Olympic committee rich, the TV companies rich, the drug manufacturers rich, the athletes rich, and the poor old general public pays for it all and becomes a lot poorer....bring back the days of the amateurs.....

Like Baron, I thought this would be easy. Did a quick search of the USOC website ... apparently they do not think it is worthy of mentioning. confused Perhaps someone in the USA knows it. laughing Strange.

...and please point out where I mentioned POLITICS?

If you look at the Olympic sites for the Athens Games 4 years ago, built with lots of money as the facilities were going to benefit all the citizens of Greece, they are now derelict and overgrown....a total waste of money....now the costs of the 2012 Games have spiralled from the original estimate....guess who is paying for those?....and no-one asked me if we wanted the games over here, but they are quite willing to take my money to build the new facilities....and again we here that once the Games are over no-one will use them .....just like Athens!

Re: 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing

Of the 22 venues in the city, 21 are in a state of disrepair and under guard to prevent vandalism...

The only open venue is the former badminton stadium, which has been transformed into a theatre, which has hosted Swan Lake on Ice and Jesus Christ Super Star...

A spokesman for the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games, said: "Our Games will be truly sustainable in that we are only building facilities that can be used after the Games.

Re: 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing

Yesterdays exclusion of 7 Russian athletes reminded me of a joke where a sportsman was swapping urine samples to escape discovery of doping. He arrives at the control and dexterously swaps the pot with the one his wife filled for him before. After the analysis says the inspector: Well you are clean and the other good news is that you're pregnant :D

Not a clue who will be the pallbearer of the Olympic oath for Italy, not interested who it is. Today in Italian news, and of course the standard complot exclaim: I did not do it, "I don't know nothing", where last week Riccardo Ricco got chopped:

If 080808 is the lucky number of the PRoC than I wish the Chinese all the luck in the world they have games with fairly clean air.
