Re: 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing

What's the Olympic Games? I saw something on TV about it, but all they mentioned were Reebok, Nike, Top Gear, Gellin, Top Flite and a few other clothing items... I thought it was an ad for J.C. Penny's...

shock Re: 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing

Like Baron, I thought this would be easy. Did a quick search of the USOC website ... apparently they do not think it is worthy of mentioning. confused Perhaps someone in the USA knows it. laughing Strange.

coffee

I heard on Dutch TV that they will anounce the flag carrier for The Netherlands on the morning of August 8. Why so late, don't ask me. rolling eyes

Also, apparently our soccer/football team will have to play their first game on August 7. So the games are not offcially opened yet and the day before there are already matches. What's up with that? confused raised eyebrow

Re: 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing

Not a clue who will be the pallbearer of the Olympic oath for Italy

Freudian slip? Is the Olympic spirit dead?

2009 there will be the MedOlympics is Pescara. They've been building complexes since the nomination in 2000 right in the middle of town. The flats will be rented out or sold off afterwards.... anyone wanting a 4x4 on the sea? I'm told prices now go for 5,000 Euro per square meter.

Re: 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing

Who cares!! They are no longer the games that they should be for just the fun of it with no pay. All they are these days is to make the Olympic committee rich, the TV companies rich, the drug manufacturers rich, the athletes rich, and the poor old general public pays for it all and becomes a lot poorer....bring back the days of the amateurs.....

Pityful but true - at least we have an amateur Marathon runner.

Pity, too, it has become a political tool.
