The large fire in Mariposa (telegraph fire) is still 0% contained this morning.
---------------------------------------- "On Friday afternoon a new fire broke out in Mariposa County. The Telegraph Fire is burning near the community of Midpines and is threatening approximately two thousand homes. Firefighters observed extremely erratic fire behavior due to the dry conditions and the fact that the area has not burned in the past 100 years." The American River Complex fires just north of me are 95% contained this morming. The air quality is still poor.If you have extra rain ... send it out here!! ![]() ![]() |

I guess I forgot to tell you guys a little more about me. Someone earlier today asked what type of medicine I practice..
----------------------------------------I'm a Pediatrics Resident. In other words, i'm doing the final "on the job training" and will be practicing medicine with only children. We "old people" are evil! lol.. And to top it off, i'm trying to specialize. I have applied for a fellowship (additional training) in Child Abuse Medicine. That's my number one passion.I got started crunching back in the UD days.. came here for a short time, then "lost sight". Someone helped me find the way, just not sure yet who that is. lol. I crunch mostly because i hope it helps somehow.. I just wish I had more computing power to help. In time I guess. I see kids of all ages dying from Cancer fairly often. Had a patient of mine last month die from a chest mass, most likely a lymphoma. And he was 17. Nice young man too. I crunch hoping someone out there will find better therapies, etc. :) I'm not special, i'm not any better than anyone else. I am blessed with the ability to go to work and enjoy my job on a daily basis. And I get to make a difference some days. I sometimes even have "FUN" at "WORK". (Please don't tell my supervisor.. lol)Hope everyone has a great week.. :) Dr. Mike.. ![]() |

I know I've been on 41 and 120 going in and out of Yosemite over the years, may even have taken 140 through Midpines too. All that underbrush is going to make that one nasty. I suspect the heat must have eased there since your points are off the scale. ![]() |

Forecast is for 90F/32C today and the humidity went up to 44% overnight but will be down to 18% by afternoon. That’s a lot better than the 9% we had a few days ago. The breeze we have today will not be good for the firefighters. I had to deal with a skunk that took up residence by my pond. I guess he liked the cool water and the fishing is good. He shot first ... I shot second. Now I have to dig a hole. Cheers! ![]() |

@ NiceMedTexMD
Did you do your med school back east or out west? Or, God forbid, at UT Austin. @ Blizzie I didn't realise that they were changing the run times so I abandoned the project. On my oced quad HPFs take 3.5 hrs and HCC take a little under 4. |

For the skunk or yourself -- lmao! Too funny Dave. My weapon had a bit more range than his did. I couldn’t dig a hole this time of the year that would be big enough for me. It took a half hour to dig a hole big enough for him. The mattock bounces off this hard red clay like it was concrete. I was about ready to go borrow my neighbor’s backhoe. By the time I was done I had a turkey vulture circling. I should have just left it out in the corral and let him dine on it. ![]() ![]() |
