Blizzie, I know this is your laptop for college and you ideally need it to last the four years you're there. Odds are pretty good that it will but college is its priority so it's fine if you don't crunch on it. It's your machine and your decision. -------------Im thinking in two years Blizzie will be needing a new laptop and its only a matter of time till he starts crunching on it--he cant help it-- post a picture of it Maybe, maybe not. I remember my college days. I commuted (saved on living costs) in an old 69 Belair with the 283 V8, all 100K+ miles of it. Tuition was $900 a quarter - at the start. It always went up. Textbooks were $30-40 apiece. And I paid for it out of my own pocket. No loans, no $$ from Mom and Dad. By the time I finished my six years, with one off to just work between years four and five, tuition had doubled. The car died at 130K and I thought the $4000 loan I got to buy the new one was humongous. Scared the bejebbers out of me owing that kind of debt. This was back in ancient times. I can imagine what it's like these days. As always though, normal college students live day to day. In my day, you couldn't get credit cards until you got out and had a job. These days, they seem to hand them out to college kids on the slightest whim. It's no wonder so many end up with major debt loads. Getting through college is hard enough. Doing it without mortgaging your life away is near impossible. |

Plus personal accessories, etc. When my points start falling, I'm going to end up caving in and crunch on my laptop. Or when Jonathan gets another cruncher on.. ![]() |

If you're worried about diminishing the life expectancy, limiting the hours you run WCG or limiting the use of the processor (set it to only use a certain percentage of the CPU power) are good ways to both crunch and preserve your equipment. |
