Thanks for the vid, Dave. I didn't see any except on TV. This is the last cool day (only 92F/33C) before he blast furnance starts. Looks like at least 10 days of 101+. Tuesday's forecast is for 108F/42C ... I can hardly wait (yes, that is sarcasm!) I will be draining the queues and shutting everything down except this one by Monday. I'll probably be down around 6 weeks.Gas under $4 is a bargain Keith. Cheers! ![]() Six weeks is a lot less than I was expecting! I don't miss the heat though mid-90s here in Georgia is bad too. Guess it's not as "dry"! Yes, gas is defnitely cheaper here. State gas taxes are quite low in this part of the country too. I remember the amazement of $1.66 a gallon - in Hawaii - in 1995 We were probably $1.10-1.20 back then. I think my first $2+ gas was actally in Crescent City, CA 4-6 years after that. Of course I remember when "penny candy" really was a penny too. I still can't get used to paying more than $2.50 for a fast food burger lunch (with fries and drink). Of course, today's young snots will be recalling the days of cheap $4 gas soon enough. Such is growing old. ![]() |

I guess i wasnt over the Mono--i just cant seem to get over this--lucky for me i have a daughter in Delaware and she picked me up---Dataman i hope you are safe from the fires Sorry to hear you are not completely over it. Bad enough to be ill at home but away from home is even worse. No fires near me. The two big ones are on the coast. I heard on the local news that there have been over 1,300 that have burned 10 acres or more since fire season "officially" began. A lot of the ones in NoCal have been from dry lightning strikes but there has been some arson too. Get better soon. ![]() You getting much of the smoke? I remember a couple years back we had a couple of occasions where the smoke from the big swamp fire down on the GA/FLA border got blown all the way up here (about 300-400 miles to the NNW of the fire). It still burned the eyes and was raw on the throat. |

Nice you got to spend some time with your daughter, though. Now, settle down and do what the Docs tell you to so you can get better! Aw You'll get a chance to go next time. Health and safety comes first. *waves to Dave and I whiz by* So I have orientation for college at the end of next week. I'm sitting here scratching my head on the classes. I don't think it can get any more confusing.. ![]() Yeah, don't worry. They'll explain it all to you. If you can, get in contact with a current student and ask how course registration works. You can often find people who want to do this through the Registrar. |

I thought the first two years was nothing but those "required" classes that were 90% useless? |

You getting much of the smoke? Current Unhealthy PM2.5 Current Good OZONE Better than the last few days but still not good. We get to look forward to a high pressure temperature inversion during the coming hot weather that holds it in like a bottle cap. But such is July in the foothills. But it does seem like it gets just a bit worse each year. Time to hunker down for a few days. Crunch as best you can ... ![]() ![]() |

Nope.. We have GE (General Edu) requirements but we don't have to satisfy them right away. A lot of the classes towards major count for GE Reqs too.. It's all crazy and new. -- HEating up towards end of the week. 90s. Not 100s yet. |

It's all crazy and new. Well, in four short years, it will still be crazy, but it will be old. |

Nice Dave. I'd say we were no more that about 2000 feet or so from where they were shooting ours off. You could hear the WHUMP of the launch pretty well. For a city-paid show, it ran a good 20-25 minutes. Bit more than I expected plus they didn't have the "long" waits between shots so nice quantity. Interesting to see from up that close. Keith -- yeah, it definately is more exciting when you are up close and some of the stuff just can't be seen from a distance too well (like the close to the ground beginnings of the finale at the beginning of my video). I pretty much gave up trying to be close years ago because of the traffic nightmare there always is afterward, although that isn't a choice anymore since I can't drive now. Late yesterday, I finished putting a video together of our entire show and it runs for 24 minutes, too long to put up on YouTube. Just for your info, I shot the video on a Sony DCR-SR42 camcorder (the 40X zoom lens really was what made it possible from the distance I shot it) and edited the video with Adobe Premiere Elements 4. Most of the edit actually only amounted to adding the background music from the CD God Bless America / Mormon Tabernacle Choir which has some absolutely fantastic patriotic music on it. |
